    :D

HOLD ON is kicking the living shit outta me right now, repeatedly. What a gift. On this thanksgiving day I am super THANKFUL for this beating. :) Seriously PJ, thank you SO much for this one. It needed to be unleashed upon the world. Ed and Stone, you make a GREAT couple. :D

Woohoo! Chiqui joins the love in. My PJ brutal lovin friend. Fuck the foreplay, huh? hehe. Yet another one with the same vibe. ;)

Hmmm, I don't think it's on TB2K. I think it's something different. I hear ya about the delivery by the entire band. They are all just ON IT! Eddie and Krusen really attack me though. It's brilliant. Brilliant brutality. :D

hell yes girlie!! i love the ferocious songs for sure!! :D

it's just a great song, and i love "brilliant brutality" - just a perfect way of putting it!

about the TB2K europe band-montage song, whoopsie haha just that little guitar riff that was in there for some reason made me flash back to that montage....what ARE the songs that are used in that particular montage anyway? sounds like two distinct ones...i am sans clue on that one - if anybody can illuminate me, please take me outta the dark! haha

Hi jammers! What a great song this is, Ed's voice, Ed and Stone's lyrics, the guitarwork, the drumsession near the end.. F*ckin' unbelievable!!

I'd just like to share what I think this kick ass song is about imo..

I think Hold On is about a relation ending, which is causing grievance. The person this song is about, feels bad about it.. He thinks it could have been different, he could have "held on", but he let her go. He didn't appreciate her enough: "put it in my pocket when it should've been framed". He feels bad about it, he feels he could have been a better person, he could be something. Now he want's to get over it, and get it out of his head.

    Fucking great song!!

I can sort of relate to the lurics although I don't think they aply to my situation exactly. But the feeling after breaking up, although you know it's for the best, makes you wonder.. Could have been different, could have been something..
    your light's reflected now

Hey there Obi Once! Glad to see yet another person join in on the HOLD ON praise. :D

I agree with pretty much everything you said really. All aspects of this song are indeed "unbelievable". And I definitely interpret the song same as you. It's about regrets. The PJ theme that appears time and time again "If I had known then, what I know now". Taking things, people, for granted and in turn pushing them away when you should have "held on" and kept them close to you. Not knowing how good something was until it has gone.

Yeah, even if it doesn't relate to my current situation either, I hear ya...it is something you can relate to, overall. It's difficult too cuze you get stuck in this vicious cycle. This kinda self war, ya know? Just dwelling on shit and beating yourself up about things that are done and over with. EXACTLY, if you could just "get it outta your head"! But yeah, easier said then done in these cases.

VERY powerful song on all levels. It's like the narrator (Ed) is kickin the shit outta himself as a result of all this regret and things he coulda, shoulda, oughta done.....and in turn, we all get an ass beating too. I think it all works out quite nicely. ;)

I too appreciate the ass kicking that ed, stone, and krusen deliver to me in the form of hold on. . .i wish that there was a hunger strike-esqe video for this song. .. like on a cliff or something. that would be perfection.

When I was driving home for Thanksgiving, on Wed., I listened to Lost Dogs all the way through...I listened to the first disc, and Hold On came on. I listened to the words and started singing along to it, not realizing how powerful those words are. I started to cry at that moment, trying to hold on to something, but you can't because it is no longer there. I mean, that is very powerful stuff right there. I put the song on repeat for 3 more times after that.

Hold On to me, is about the choices you make in life, and what it does to yourself and the people who are around you. "i know life would be different if I held on" <---if those aren't powerful words, I don't know what is.

Thanks for this great song you have giving us PJ!!! I HOPE they play this one live!!

Oh man! I'm gone for a few days and no one has HELD ON to this thread. :( Oh well...back to the top you go! :D

Aww Nadia! How moving. It just hits you, huh? I love that about it. It's SUCH a rockin song. Everything about it musically is just amazing. And then you look deeper into it, those words. OMG! They really are so powerful. The message is something we can all feel. It's so true, it's definitely about the choices you make...and the regrets you face over choices you wish you woulda made. It's a very REAL song. Mmm and Krusen. Boy did I miss him. haha. I've been sick the past couple of days and confined to my bed. I've just been sleeping. I didn't listen to ANY music. Craziness, I know. I just put on HOLD ON right now though....and it's good to be back. Nothing like a fresh beating. :D

YES! Thank you PEARL JAM for this fierce masterpiece.

One of the best pj songs.... and one of the best on Lost Dogs...

i'm not fan of Pearl Jam on early days... but this songs is really great :D
So that is how I learned the lesson that everyone is alone. And your eyes must do some raining if you are ever going to grow. But when crying don't help and you can't compose yourself. It is best to compose a poem, an honest longing or simple song of hope.
    That is why I'm singing

Oh man my Itunes is beating the living shit outta me. I just got BLOOD into HOLD ON. WOOHOO!!! :D

YES! I am so glad you finally got to hear this one Ross. I knew you would love it.

I don't know if it's the rainy weather lately or what, but I have so slipped back into my super chill, super mellow music mode. Well I changed all that today. I had this song stuck in my head all yesterday. Underneath it all, I have been aching for this song something fierce. Today was my first time hearing it in quite awhile. I'm falling in love all over again. SUCH A KICK ASS SONG!!! OMG it sooo captures something extremely special about this band. It really does take me back to that feeeling of new love....of being blown the hell away by a sound like no other.

YES! WELL DONE PJ! I can't thank you guys enough for releasing this one too. Eddie and this voice, these harmonics, and frickin KRUSEN. Ahh it all fits together to perfectly. Every sound in this song compliments the other. I can't get over it. I am NOT letting go of this classic. It's a beating I will never tire of. :D

ANOTHER BUMP for this song!! Already on page 2..NO WAY!! This thread needs to be UP there!! :D

This song is truly amazing, and yet it surprises me that it was done during the early 90s. Pretty cool that this song is now making it's appearance on here. wohoo, good call PJ;) I wonder what else they are hiding from us.

HAPPY MONDAY MORNING!! I love waking up to a beating like this. :D

:: gave her life away ::
:: put it in my pocket when it should've been framed ::

    Ahhh I LOOVE that part.

YES! And then the way the drums build when Ed sings "lost it's shiiiiiine". Oh man....this song is too good. His voice sounds AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! He holds notes for such a long time in this one. And we get the best of Ed, screaming and pretty gentle singing alike. I love it! :D

    Thanks again PJ!

(sending out some extra thanks to Mr. Krusen;) )

Don't need to theorize on this one. The lyrics are fucking written for me (and for many of you too, I suppose). It's a classic which should have never been a B-side. It's one of my all-time faves. It's Exhibit X on why Pearl Jam are the best band in the whole damn world.

  • Sorry I'm late to the party on this one...

What really locks me into this song is the freaking wall of guitar that goes up and the totally anguished lead that backs Eddie...and when Stone and co. back up the "lost it's shine" line...sends chills up my spine.....and then the feeling behind "gotta get this outta my head"
