Who else got caught in the massive disaster getting out of there?  Couldn't get a cab, Uber or Lyft.
We ended up walking 4 miles, across the river and under 65 to get back to where we were staying.
In flip flops, with a sleeping toddler.  Long night lol
Did you stay for Steve Miller?   We left right after Eddie...there was traffic getting out but it probably only took us 10 minutes to get away.  We parked at the boat place on River.

We also left right after Ed's set.

smooth sailing........ out and back on the interstate in 5 minutes.

I could see how the traffic could've been a disaster later.

I was way back.  Way back.  I made my way up into the crowd right before BOH came on and had a good spot.  But my husband didn't want to do that and I got tired of standing by myself  and my foot hurt  (recovering from metatarsal stress fracture) and decided to go back, sit down, and enjoy the show from afar.  Granted, I was sorry I did that when Ed started but que sera sera.   We also stood in line for about an hour when we got there but they ran out of posters before we got one.  There were people buying multiple posters.  They were not limiting people to two posters.  And there were only four people working the merchandise stand and they were not experienced merchandise guys - slow motion - walking to and fro- and seemingly going nowhere productive.
As to the show, I thought it was very good.  I loved the cover when he played the organ.  I was shocked to see him at the organ.  He hasn't done that before, has he?    The Bourbon spitting was funny.  He held a mouthful of bourbon for whatever reason and then spit it out.  He then complained that his mouth was "on fire."   So funny.
A question for you guys that were close.   The photo on a piece of equipment or prop that was behind him?  What/who was that?
jjflash,  I wondered how you felt on Sunday after all day in the sun.  Sorry we missed you.  It was a tiring weekend- that's for sure.
And the most exciting thing for me (and is probably silly), but I was thrilled that he mentioned Paducah!   We are from the Paducah area.  When he started talking about that little place in the far western part of the state I thought the odds were against him saying Paducah, but then he did and I left out a whoop!
My husband insisted on leaving after Ed.  I managed to hear a little of Steve Miller.  Sorry I missed that.  He was a big part of my youth.

Did anybody else get the sense that Amos Lee is seriously at home in his own skin?
That dude was exuding a sense of cool confidence that had nothing of arrogance.
I'd really like to see him on his own as soon as possible.

man, Amos Lee was awesome. His set was so different from what I expected based on just my little bit of knowledge of his music, and different in a good way. I was worried he'd be too low key and kill the crowd, but nope.

We left right after Eddie, but we camped there, so we drank beer up on the hill at our campsite and could sort of hear Steve Miller. Sorry about your rough end to the night!

since my wife wouldn't let me go to taormina (i was there last year) we decided to go see Ed at this festival. We had driven through Louisville numerous times but never stayed so this was our chance to see the city. Besides the festival we hit a couple bourbon distilleries, and Louisville Slugger. Was able to get a Cubs WS bat they make each year for the winning team.
Overall we enjoyed the festival, except for the ungodly heat. We managed to find places to sit under trees to keep out of the sun all day. Saturday we were there for almost the entire day. There were some things the festival can do better but for the most part is wasn't bad. We ubered the first day and it was a train wreck getting out of there. We were finally able to get an uber after leaving that area and headed back toward town. Sunday we just drove and parked close by and had no trouble leaving.
Saturday's highlights for me was Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Amos Lee, EV, and Steve Miller. Fine job by all. The highlight for me in Ed's set was Springsteen's Open All night. Someone had mentioned Buddy Guy but for me his performance seemed a bit "lost" in the festival setting. Seen him in a club before in Chicago and there he was incredible.
Sunday i felt was the better of the two days. I thought Gary Clark Jr, Paul Rodgers, and Joe Bonamassa were the best of the weekend. All 3 were incredible.
