I'm the only one who's been coming to meetings lately.
The worst of times..they don't phase me,
even if I look and act really crazy.

Unless you are in an area with zero reception is there any positives for not having a cell phone?

There was a big scientific study about this.
They factored every possible variable and concluded that the only possible positive to not having a cell phone is that you are 1000% more likely to be considered for a lead role if they reboot the Grumpy Old Men franchise.

Make fun of me for this:
A month ago my truck was stolen (I leave the keys in the ignition).
A few hours later driving around in a work truck I came upon my truck being pillaged by some youth.
As I slowly drove by with my testicles shrinking ( ten years ago, I would of pulled over and GOT IT ON.)
I thought to myself, "THIS would be a good time to own a cellphone."

I'm more concerned that you leave your keys in your ignition than I am that you. refuse to own a cell phone.

I still have an analogue TV with a converter.
I don't know how to text message and I only have a cell phone with me when traveling.
I don't tweet (or bark, or whinny or bay but I do sometimes growl).
I know how to drive a stick shift.
I do not now nor ever will own or know how to use a Kindle or e-reader.
I still buy CDs and LPs.
I don't have an ipod nor do I listen to mp3's.
I have never taken an Uber or stayed on an Airbnb.
I use a cast iron frying pan.

    ...shall I go on?

And Malroth, exactly what kind of "other music" are we talking about here?

my list includes:  not able to post in the right forum.
A cell phone while travelling would be nice,
I have been in a couple situations, where a cell phone would have saved some hassle

I see!  Yes, part of the list- I get it!

Yeah, I resisted cell phone technology for a long time but safety issues while on the road and the decline of pay phones led me to at least carry one while traveling. I was also one of the last of my friends and family to finally get a computer.  I think that was around 2003 or 2004.

I feel the same way.  Civilization seems like it's crashing.  I hope I'm wrong, but....

I'm sorry to say this and could be completely wrong, but the US seems doomed looking from afar, our news here is dominated with what's going on in the States, Trump and his fucked up administration endless problems, it's like the fall of the Roman Empire all over again in a modern setting..

    North Korea.
    Threat of nuclear war.
    Terrorism.
    Racism dividing communities.
    Police brutality.
Murder rates, Chicago and Baltimore are particularly bad.
Drugs and it's destruction to families (was reading recently about how high meth use is there and heroin use is still increasing as is crack).
Climate, the weather is out of control! Fires in California, Hurricanes in the south and east, flooding and Trump doesn't believe in climate change...?!?!?! Wow.
Even the voting system seems very messed up.

Don't get me wrong I love visiting the US, have been there a few times and plan to go again and we are far from perfect here in New Zealand and have some of the same issues, hard drugs, robberies, murders and the government dominate our media too, but I know where I'd rather be when it gets really real, down here on some small islands at the bottom of the world..
