I'm stuck on a few to be perfectly honest....
~Throw Your Arms Around Me~
~No Ceiling~
~RITFW~

What a night! Anyone who attended the Massey Hall show (night 2) received the gift of a true artist. Words are not enough....

(As for the thread about PJ touring next year to end their run.. ummm no.. Eddie said at the show that PJ would not be touring anytime soon as they would be spending time in the studio now to record a new album ;o) ...No end in sight ;o) yay!

I've been thinking about this show non stop.

The songs floating around my head right now

    Second Chance (Liam)
    Gather to the Chapel (Liam)
    Helpless
    Walking The Cow
Sometimes (The crazy intense foot stomping at the end was awesome!!!)

I wanna hear Eddie's bad ass drum beat during "Old Man" again. I remember it being really cool.

    Great Show.

Gather to the Chapel by Liam Finn. I even had to learn it on guitar. I was definately blown away by his performance. Then there was Throw Your Arms Around Me, Old Man, Around The Bend, ect.

sometimes ... 'my small self, like a book amongst the many on the shelf... ' agree with the others who commented on his foot-stomping, what a great start to the first few songs of the show... one of my fave PJ songs.

masters of war! 'and i hope that you die, and your death will come soon... i'll follow your casket in the pale afternoon... ' (can't even begin to express how i feel that i went night 2 when he played this song. still blown away.)

throw your arms around me... just beautiful with him and liam, great cover of hunters and collectors. ' you will make me call your name and i'll shout it to the blue summer sky... and we may never meet again, so shed your skin and let's get started... '

helpless... 'there is a town in north ontario...' cool to hear ed sing that line.

there were soo many good moments, too many to list, a lot stuck in my head (MOTH, Elderly Woman with the MH choir:))... but these ones stuck most.

Am I the only one who liked the first night way more?

Do you mean the versions Old Man in night 1 vs night 2, or the overall shows between night 1 and 2?

I've posted this in other threads, but I'll say it again: Setlist from Night 2 was the shiznitz. But I liked the crowd and Ed's storytelling/banter/overall mood from Night 1 better. (Ed falling back into the crowd during Hard Sun at night 1 says it all!). I also had slightly better seats night 1 (row 9 vs row 17), and idiots behind me at night 2 who wouldn't stop talking, so I'm sure that biases me. Overall, I call it a draw between the two nights.... where the draw is both shows were AWESOME ;)

And to stay on topic for the thread - Songs I've been humming since then:

    Helpless
    Old Man
    Long May You Run

and I'm inspired to go out an buy k.d. lang's "Hymns of the 49th Parallel" (why this and not NY at Massey Hall? Probably because I've been meaning to buy Hymns of the 49th Parallel for awhile, and now I *need* to hear Helpless on repeat...)

and the African version of Elderly Woman...
It is such a crazy version - at first I thought it was Liam Finn - it sounded to me like a little hobbit
I'm going to learn to play it that way on guitar

  • The song that has really stuck with me is No More. I have a really poor quality recording of an early version of this song and I never thought I would ever get to see it live. Seeing it back to back nights was amazing, I'm in love with this song right now.

Favourite song I've ever heard live, out of the dozens of shows I've ever been to, by the dozens of artists I've seen. Amazing. I can't get over how amazing that song was live. I never noticed it before too much, but after seeing it live, it's one of my favourite songs. I can't stop thinking about it.
