My Toronto Story From Surgery To Show

After getting great seats for Night 1 in Toronto, row 9, and a pretty good floor seat for Night 2, row 16, I was extremely excited to see Ed perform. After a dinner 4 nights before the first show, I had a stomach ache but didn't think it was anything critical. The day of the concert that stomach ache did not go away and was at a point where it was hard to move. I was hoping to suck up the pain and go to the 2 shows, and the Radiohead show I was going ot on Friday, and then go to the doctor or hospital. Unfortunately the pain made me go to the doctor just to make sure it was nothing important. The doctor felt around and was concerned so he sent me to the hospital to get it looked at further.
I arrived downtown at the hospital at 3:00pm, and in my mind, I thought I would get it checked out, it would be nothing, and I would go straight to the show that evening. After a few blood tests, urine samples, and a CT scan (which is a radioactive scan), the time kept getting closer to the 7:30 start. I was getting annoyed with how long everything was taking and the time kept on going by. I though by 9:00 I would finally hear something and catch the end of the show. At 9:15 the doctor finally came and informed me that I had appendicitis. Since I hadn't eaten in over 27 hours, they recommended I go into surgery to have an appendectomy as fast as possible. Devastated that I would miss the show, not the fact I was going into surgery, I went into surgery at 2:00am and came out at 3:00am. I woke up from the anesthetic at about 4:00am. The surgery went fine, and I was on morphine for the day because I could barely walk, could not eat, and it was hard to move at all.
During the day the thought crossed my mind that maybe there was a way to get to the show. I asked the doctor a wild question, "Can I get a night pass to leave the hospital and go to the show in a wheel chair?" After hours of deliberation, they surprisingly gave the permission to go because they knew how badly I wanted to go the night before, and this one as well.
Tuesday Night I went to Massey Hall, 16 and a half hours after surgery, on morphine, with the IV still in my arm, and sat second row (thanks to the Massey Hall Staff) and watched one of the greatest shows I had ever seen.
I have been called every name in the book for actually going through with it.
Hope everyone enjoys this story.

I'm so happy the hospital let you go and that you had a great time!!
Haha ya I was wheeling around after Liam's set while they found me a seat! I saw Holden there are he was shocked I made it. All PJ fans say gutsy, the rest of the world say beyond stupid! Thanks for the concern and the comment!

Hope the rest of your recovery goes really well
Besides - it's not like you checked yourself out of the hospital, the Dr. did say it was okay!
So no one catches you?
Exactly my point! Thanks for the wishes.

Hahaha ya I know exactly where it is...been there a few times (not as a patient tho). Thats awesome that you were so close to the venue. Only way to hve been closer woulda been to have been at St. Mikes lol (across the street from Massey). Then you coulda snuck out and wheeled yourself over to the show hahahaha. j/k
Man that musta been trippy seeing Ed on Morphine. Kudos again to you!
