Any set-lists floating around or was there no PJ /Eddie songs played?
  • Those videos remind me of church growing up with four old guys singing on stage as a quartet.  It was cringeworthy at times.

It is intermission.  Meet and greet was all five of the headliners: Pete, Ed, Billy Idol, Alfie Boe and Rachel Fuller.  You literally got to walk up, take a professional picture and walk away.  Less than a minute.  We get the pictures tomorrow.  They were very strict about no phones, no shaking hands, get in and get out.  And no autographs.
Not so much a meet and great then!

There was definitely a sound issue during the first half of the show. At times you could hear loud static pops and the sound would skip. It was almost like listening to a dirty vinyl record. They cleared it up after intermission. Eddie's voice sounded a little strained but it was still great to see him add his take on vocals. I had $100 seats in the upper balcony and when I showed my tickets to the usher he reached into a magic red bag of tickets and immediately upgraded my seats to a much better location. It seemed like they were making a real effort to please those in attendance last night and fill up the seats that went unsold.

Very cool that they upgraded your seats.

I agree that EV's voice seemed a bit off last night.  There were moments were he sounded great but other times where he sounded really strained.  I was surprised how few songs he was a part of.  I know that the show was focused on Quadraphenia and not EV but I think his total singing time was about the equivalent of 3 songs.

Yeah - that was a nice surprise to get my seats upgraded. I agree with you in that I would have liked to see Ed a little more. I think there were a couple times where he could have filled in on Billy's parts and had a little more presence as the "special guest". I love Ed's version of Love Reign.....and was kind of hoping he'd do that to close out the Quad portion of the show but I just don't think his voice could have done it last night. Clearly there were a good number of folks there to see Eddie perform. That was evident by the loud cheer he received during this first entrance to the stage. I went to the last Pete/Eddie show at that theater a couple years back and had the same feeling as I did last night. I really enjoyed the show but glad I didn't break the bank for it.

For all the criticism, I loved the show.  Being a gigantic Who and Pearl Jam fan, I thought it was great.  I enjoyed meeting a couple of people from both the forum and FB groups.  Glad my posting on FB about transferring seats helped some people. AND AND AND some of us waited after the show and Eddie came out to greet each person individually, shake hands and even give some hugs out. Wasn't lucky enough to get a pick but man what an experience.  Alfie also came over to my little group (broken off from the main group of people waiting) to chat, take pictures and sign a couple things.  Definitely an experience I will never forget!

I will work on posting my videos on youtube and will share soon.  Will try to do it before I head to Pilgrimage.

  • i'm super grateful and feel extremely blessed, even surprised, that i have yet another amazing experience that involves this album.
as if those past who tours for this record weren't enough already...
if this album meant anything to you, then after seeing this chicago show, it now means much more. it's impossible to not have it affect you... with that production! the choir!! alfie an over the top incredible singer who absolutely nailed his part. loved his energy and his dance moves...and billy idol also gets much props for being the perfect fit and bringing the attitiude+
the who came along long before seattle did for me. and to have those two worlds come together for this, like that. amazing+
and to especially watch ed groove and sing on stage and see him feel those lyrics, like we all do. incredible++
    bravo pete & rachel. bravo!

When I originally heard they were doing an orchestrated version of Quadrophenia a few years ago, I was skeptical... to put it lightly. I had grown tired of rehashed material, and I thought that Pete and Co were fiddling with a perfect record.

I couldn't be more happy to be proven wrong. It was beautiful, and I'm definitely glad to have seen it live. Rachel did a hell of a job! Alfie Boe's voice held tight with the orchestration, and was elevated by the choir. Pete, EV, and Billy Idol really complimented everything in spectacular fashion.

I would highly recommend the Classic Quadrophenia recording to any WHO, Quadrophenia, or music fan. It's worth your time.
