Odd angle, makes it look un-pizza-like but I'm sure it was grinding.

No it was pretty un-pizza like. More like bread with pizza toppings on it. Still really tasty though.

Crust and Craft in Rehoboth Beach DE. The grandma pie was off the chain.

That is not what a Grandma Pie is here in NY that's for sure.  That actually looks like a pie.

So, the 8 year old says he wants Pizza Hut.  Never had it (has to be a solid 20 years since I've had anything from Pizza Hut).

Ordered one for him,  tossed crust/ stuffed crust, with pepperoni.
One for me, pan Pizza, pepperoni.

First impression - delivered quickly, boxes were hot.
Also - they are smaller than normal large pies.

    Started with mine.
Crust was not awful.  Cheese taste was pretty good.  Sauce bland.  Overall, not bad.  Certainly not better than any of the normal places we order from but if I'm being honest in my judgment, it was much better than I expected.

Tried a piece of his pie, which he declared was "great" and "just how he likes it. "

I have to say that I took my first bite and it was really bad.
This is the current "standard" Pizza crust from Pizza Hut - hand tossed.  Just awful.
I didn't bother to finish the piece.  That bad.

End result is the pan was far better than I expected and the hand tossed/stuffed crust was even worse than I expected.

The worst part is that it cost about the same as our local places,  which make really good pies.

Oh well.  I'm glad he liked his but I'm not ordering for myself there again.  It'll be another 20 years.

I worked at the Hut back in the 90's. You gotta go with the pan...or maybe stuffed crust or Neapolitan. My goodness---that hand tossed looks horrendous. Actually looks like Dominoes crap to me.

For me, of all the chains, Pizza Hut is tops. Haven't had it in years though.

Pizza Hut pan pizza is the best thing you can get from any national chain pizza place by a country mile and I will die on that hill.

From around age 5-13 a pepperoni pan pizza and a 2 liter of Mountain Dew from Pizza Hut was my favorite meal imaginable.

Unfortunately they did do something around a decade ago that made it not as good. I think it has something to do with the cook time. The cook it at a higher temperature for a shorter amount of time and it’s not as crispy as it used to be. But still way better than anything the other places are offering.

pizza hut pan is tasty, but you can almost feel a pimple being born from 1st bite
