I would assume that others would take up the mantle. After all, Neil and Pegi couldn't do it forever. Hope that the benefit survives in some form. Still very important work to be done.

Would be nice (Eddie!), but I'm guessing it's over.

Farm aid is still on, and he has been recording, so it seems he is ok

This is awful news. I went to my first Bridge in 1999 because Pearl Jam was playing. I kept going back because the event was larger than any one single band that played it. I will miss this late October reaffirmation of life.

I am sad I never got to attend a bridge school benefit.  It would be neat if some artists picked up the mantel and kept it going.

Saddened to hear this news. I was only able to attend once, in 2014. I really wish I had the opportunity to attend more of them as it was so unique and intimate. Music aside, the joy on the faces of the children was worth attending alone. Hope that the school continues to thrive and that the kids get the support they need.

I think at least some of the concerts were recorded professionally - if they wanted to maintain some form of income stream for the school then releasing some of these seems an obvious move, either as compilations of concerts by year, by band/artist or full artist sets? I  can think of one band in particular whose performances would sell particularly well if they were officially released...

Neil is at the age of retirement. Pearl Jam should take over this endeavor and it would be a win win. We would know they would play at least once a year and all the proceeds go to a worthy cause.

Good call.  And the shows could be at the gorge every year.

PJ has their own endeavors to support.  Things come and go, this was Neil and Pegi's, and now it was time for them to take a bow.  It is not easy to pull something like this off.  Neil is 71, and clearly, despite a lack of details, these types of appearances are not something that he is going to be able to keep up.  I would expect Farm Aid is the next axe to fall.
His eminence has yet to show.

    Wow, this is big news.
I had wondered how awkward the whole Bridge School Benefit weekends must have become for Neil and Pegi after their divorce in 2014.
They would always host a huge BBQ at Neil's ranch (now Pegi's ranch) the weekend of the benefit with all of that year's musicians.
I went to quite a few of the shows as I only lived 20 minutes away from Shoreline Amphitheatre (the concerts' venue) but I moved after the 2014 shows so that was it for me.
And what a lineup it was for Bridge School 2014! Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog (!), Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, Tom Jones, Norah Jones, Florence + The Machine++++
I'm sorry it is over now but many great memories and lasting good came out of the concerts, for countless speech impaired youngsters.
Thank you to Neil and Pegi.

  • I am so grateful for the weekends my son and I spent at this wonderful event.
Every performance was amazing, the ppl who perform and ppl who attend are so much fun and have nothing but love for this event and the kids!
There has always been great anticipation for the announcement of the line up each year -- I was not expecting this.
I truly hope the show will go on in some shape or form, it's hard to believe it will just end.
    This is a bummer...

Every other year they had a killer lineup.  Hard to say that about most festivals.

Neil is recording, that is great news but thats not in public eye like HOF intro for PJ .that could be another reason for no tour, to much mental shit going is going on,
Ed touring now is great for him to grieve but 5 people on stage is a lot to keep together all the time, so heal up boys & blow our minds nextjan,2,2018 with a 50 state tour, that would be worth the wait
