I've always loved this band since the day my friend played them for me, just great music. If you get the chance to catch them on tour this year, do it. They've been around a long time, we all know that and for the most part everybody knows their music. Mike Ness and Social D, just freaking badass.... I put MN in that category of someone who did and still does influence music while staying true to their musical roots.

Cheating at Solitaire is one of my all-time favorite albums!  One of the best solo efforts ever.

Saw Social D at the 930 many years ago, probably early 2000's.  Great show.  I'm pretty sure Mike was drunk and had "Washington DC" written on the back of his guitar so he knew what town he was in.  He kept saying "This town knows how to rock!" *looks at guitar*  "Washington DC knows how to rock!"  It was freakin hilarious.  He must've done it at least a dozen times.  But the great thing was he didn't miss a freakin note the entire show!  Any chance you were there??

I didn't move to the DC/Alexandria area until 2010. But while I was stationed in San Fran we would got to their shows at the Fillmore and Warfield. Such good times, caught at least 3 or 4 four shows while I was out there.  And yep, his solo stuff is great! I think he has another one coming out eventually, I hope so.

Seems to me there's a very good documentary out there about these guys.  Did I see that or dream it/make it up?

Another state of mind is the documentary.  Supposedly he's been sober for some time now.
Ranks up there with Vedder for one of the great front man of all time. (for my money-seen about 15 times live)

One of my all-time favorites.  I seen Soc D 5 times and contemplating seeing them again this summer (new baby, so childcare for an infant is tough).  Anyways, Mike's sister lives in and around the area of my hometown in northern MN.  You hear stories of people bumping into him at the hardware and bait stores from time to time.  He also always mentions fishing for walleyes during his onstage banter when playing the Twin Cities.

Mommy's Little Monster was the soundtrack to my teen years when it first came out. I got to see a secret show at a tiny Irish bar in Fullerton when the second album FINALLY was released. I've been a life long fan, but that newest album is just too much to stomach. I hate it. I've tried many times to give it another chance, thinking maybe it was just the mood I was in, but no. I've long accepted that they are not a punk band anymore, but that newest album is so glossy and shallow it just bums me out. There's one song on there that I swear sounds like it was written by Sheryl Crow. Anyway, I have my memories and the old albums and that is what I will hold on to.
1991- Hollywood Palladium, California with Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains -RIP Magazine Show Oct. 6th
    1992- Lollapalooza, Irvine, California
    Nothing since then. I suck.
2016- Fenway Park, Boston - Both glorious nights
    2022- Oakland Night 2
    2024 Sacramento, CA

Mackaye is with Minor threat.  I don't think Rollins was, maybe a cameo?

Is that the one filmed mostly with them traveling around in a bus and they're young and dirt poor?  Or maybe I'm thinking of another band?

Ha!! Yep, fun bus. It's cool watching that documentary. Just a bunch of people at a great age in life hitting the road and doing what they love with nothing but the future ahead of them. It's a trip seeing MN so young and just still freaking cool then as he is now.
