I’ve wanted to stay behind a barrier,

a protective screen,

at a cautious distance!

I’ve needed the space

I’ve needed the safety glass to be less vulnerable

but right now

I think it might not be kind to stay back here

I still know I’m on my own

I’ve kept that reality in mind

but there’s no reason to be frozen

I don’t really know what to say,

but I don’t want to be hurtful by 

being away today
