Chicago

So I've been digging into Chicago's early albums lately, such a badass band. They have a lot of good stuff! I always knew the basic hits, but when you journey inside an album that's where you find the beautiful stuff. Of course this song everyone knows, but when's the last time you really cranked this song up and felt it? These guys jammed back in the day... So cool watching this, killer guitar solo as well on this live version...

Couldn't agree more....got introduced to them early in life because my uncle was a huge fan of theirs growing up and even lost his girlfriend to Peter Cetera at one point (true but funny story).....I just saw their documentary on Netflix the other night and aside from reassuring my opinion on what a smug asshole David Foster truly is, it was a fitting tribute to a band that deserves their place in R&R history......their catalogue, especially the earlier stuff, was very innovative (with the fusion of horns) and just filled with jams and beautiful melodies.....incredibly ridiculous how much bands like them put out albums and toured back then!

HelI yeah! Probably not for everybody...but they are easily in the upper echelon of greatest bands to ever do it. I hear so much Kath influence in Mike McCready's guitar playing. Chicago was just as diverse as Pearl Jam with all their protest/spiritual/deep conceptual/experimental/love kinda stuff.

Live at Carnegie Hall and Live in Japan is essential listening. Chicago V and especially Chicago VII were some of their best efforts in my opinion. Chicago VII starts off all jazzy and experimental and slowly comes back...it's out there.

Just a couple of their greatest deep cuts...

They were pretty good live in the late 80's/early 90's as well after they lost Terry Kath in the late 70's. This concert features Dawayne Bailey on guitar who brought a different dynamic to the band. He was more of a shredder. Great concert here that features a bunch of hits...real nice versions of Searchin' So Long and Just You N' Me.

Tell me that the guitar work here isn't reminiscent of "Rats", especially later in the song...
