I alternate between Ray Ban Cockpit and Wayfarer. I've never tried the polarized lenses....may have to give those a shot next time.

Polarized lenses help me a great deal. I'm highly photosensitive so adding the effect of reduced glare keeps my eyes from getting stressed and prevents me from getting headaches. Excellent for driving or if you do anything near water!

Your eye doctor can have tinted lenses put in practically any frame, if you have old glasses or sunglasses that are scuffed up you could go that route and get a high optical quality and a frame that doesn't look like you are trying to cosplay Data from Star Trek.

Most retail sunglass frames are cheap and they look ridiculous, Oakley's being near the top of the list.
Why do they always have to try to make you look like you are trying to be a cool guy??

Anyways, that's always an option and some vision plans will even cover it.

Maui Jim's. Simply the best. Tried all the others and nothing beats my Maui Jim's. Maybe Oakleys for running or golf.
Life is too short to wear cheap sunglasses.

I'd argue that life is too short to spend $300+ on the same plastic that a $10 pair is made of.

Oakley sunglasses. For when you want people to think you're an Autobot.

While some prices for sunglasses are insane, there is a huge difference between some shitty pair for $10-20 and a nice pair of Ray Bans or Maui Jims. But I do kinda feel like an asshole when I drop $150 on a pair of sunglasses.

nope, I brought in some glasses from the 50s to put real prescription lenses in. They told me "no"

I bought sunglasses from Costco, polarized, UVA/UVB protection. They were $60.

Cheap sunglasses are not the same for my eyes.
I get where gambs is going though as i imagine the Doctor would hook you with good shit to protect your eyes.
I'm a fan of polarized for the reasons Dyer mentioned.
I also keep a pair for +/- 5 years and part of that is because of what I paid. I'm overprotective of them. At $259 they cost me less than 15 cents a day over the 5 year period.

What sunglasses are for non robots or non-cool guys? Curious as to what those look like. I think the modern douche pair is the standard looking ones like cop glasses that fuckers wear on planes and indoors. The wraps and Vadars are the 90s cool guys and we're just old.

I'd argue that life is too short to spend $300+ on the same plastic that a $10 pair is made of.

same plastic yes, but that is about it.
    HUGE difference
My sunglasses get more use than any other accessory or piece of clothing. Cant beat the polarized lenses and spring loaded feature of the Maui Jim's. Styles are great as well. Well worth the cost.
The world is a nicer place when viewed through a pair of high quality shades!

My Columbia's have polarized lenses and were $35. I've had spring loaded frames from Fossil, too, with polarized lenses for less than $50. To each their own, but no one will ever convince me that 3-figures is a reasonable price for sunglasses. (This coming from someone who paid 3 figures for a bunch of Pearl Jam vinyl records )
  • I never compromise my feet- I wear good shoes- or my eyes- I wear good sunglasses.

If outside and it's remotely bright... I'm wearing shades (I work outside for the most part and I play outside a ton). People would be surprised at the damage to their unprotected eyes that slowly develops as they age when they don't protect.

There are cheap sunglasses that do the trick, but there are also $2 t-shirts and $5 hoodies. I buy a quality pair of shades every two years or so and treat them very delicately. I've never lost a pair.
