Anyone else glad that the guys are not supporting a new album this time around?

I mean don't get me wrong, it's always great to hear the new stuff and we know the setlists will vary greatly regardless, but I'm really looking forward to the possibility that they could pull equally from all albums every night without feeling the need to play 7-10 songs from the new album.

Um, new album please??? See, it doesn't matter if they pull 7 from the new album if you only see them once.

I agree, as much as I'd like to see a new album. I feel like we will get a more diverse set then the '06 tour. Also the upside is that when a new album does come out in the next year or so, it means even more touring.

im personally happy...the last album doesn't rank very high in my album ranking list though......a new album probably would have meant more dates and a chance to get better seats via 10c, but bring on the Garden!

Agreed. I'm sure this quick east coast tour will have some killer setlists. I mean take the '05 tour, that quick tour had some great setlists, alot of variations. i think this tour will be the same.

Well yea, it was always the same songs from the new album that kinda became won out. At least the non new album songs were changing but it was always within the same group of about 50 songs. Thats why after having not seen them for a year, the vic was like the best show ever. I got to hear like 11 songs I hadn't heard them play live before. So with this tour being like 05 hopefully they will throw in some more surprises.

and more no code...definitely more no code

This will also be better for opening songs. Whenever there is a new album you tend to get new songs opening a lot of shows. So heres to Sometimes, Of The Girl, and Release

The Grateful Dead used to tour the east coast every spring and they rarely put out studio albums. I think its great that they're touring without having to support a new album. They can play whatever they want, and how ever they want. I wouldn't be suprised to hear a few new songs and alot of covers.

I have only been to 4 shows but I have never seen anything off Binaural and that is probably my favorite or 2nd favorite album. If they play anything off Binaural I will be happy.

  • I loove when they tour without an album to support. That was the great thing about the Canada 05 tour, there was a feeling that anything could happen any given night (setlist wise). IMO, the 06 shows while great, became a bit predictable with regard to placement and selection of songs.

This will be my first time seeing Pearl Jam without them promoting a record so I'm really looking forward to hearing some rarities.
Plus, it's likely that they've got new stuff that they'll be debuting and we'll be the first ones to hear it. Kinda like a sneak peek of the next record.
I really think this tour will kick all kinds of serious ass and I'm just hoping to hear some No Code songs mixed with some Yield tracks.
  • that is a good way to go to the shows, pulling evenly, but i like new music
Some people have religion I have Pearl Jam.

I totally agree with you. I have a feeling there will be some interesting rarities played at these shows. They may even play a song or two from the upcoming album/cd, which could be cool.

I'm hoping for lots of No Code :)

The Grateful Dead was a pure live band. Studio albums were annoying for them. Pearl Jam uses the same (different setlist every show) as the Dead did, which is imperative for me. I really think more bands should do this. They'd get a bigger following as a result, IMO.

I doubt it. Ed's songs are Ed's songs and definitively not the bands. They never play Stone's solo stuff (nor should they) and they won't (and shouldn't) play any of Ed's

    In My Tree over Alive
    Garden album ver vs Jeremy
    Army Rerserve vs Daughter
    Last Exit over Corduroy
    Parting Ways vs. Animal
    Sleight of Hand vs. RVM
    Wash vs. Yellow Ledbetter
    Fatal vs Evenflow

just some examples, not sying one song is better than the otehr, just woldn;t mind some new old stuff vs same old same old

Yep, I saw 12 in 06 and am welcoming a tour when they won't be supporting a new album and forgetting about No Code and Yield and playing some less played songs.

That said, I'll be back following them again whenever a new album does come out.
