you forgot to add cranky LOL !
I'm conservative for sure but I also agree with some of the liberal ideas but in politics' today there seems to be no common ground
for all sides to agree on.

I lean liberal on social issues but fiscally I'd say I'm conservative..

1 - huge difference between old and older (plus, it's all relative)
2 - I guess I'd say independent if forced to select one, but as time goes on, my views and levels of (in)tolerance have become a melange of "really? fuck you", "ok, live and let live", "wish you could get over yourself", "wish I could get over myself". Yada yada.

More and more, life gives me these laugh-or-cry moments. What is chosen depends on the situation and state of mind.

You commented on it though, which is more energy than taking the poll. Oh, you believe your opinion is like when you think you shit gold...

Looks like someone really wants their poll to be respected.

you poll creators start including a " none of your fucking business " option, I'll bite. Frankly I find my beliefs on a range of topics more nuanced than most polls allow for.

BTW, I never shit gold. It stinks to high heaven usually.
My opinions are no more or less valid than any one else's, lets be real clear on that score.

Or you can just not take the poll or comment on it. Yes you're soooo nuanced..

    Liberal
Back in university I think I considered myself to be a left-leaning capitalist, and now I consider myself to be more a socialist. So I have definitely gone way farther left in terms of economic policy and social programs. With other social issues I was always pretty liberal, although I may be more liberal about many of those issues now, only because I am much better informed than I used to be. Most of the less liberal ideas I used to have were born of ignorance rather than decision-making or my belief system.

Defeated. I've gone from activist, to pissed off (angry, I get it gimme), to not giving a thought, damn or a straw. My perception is that we have devolved into a state of torpor and stagnation. And I don't see any point in arguing politics or even being involved. I've gone from anger to semi-selfish hermit.

But, maybe just maybe, this probably means I am just re-charging. If and when I do decide to give a crap again, I will have to see better organization out there- something terribly lacking on all fronts. That along with seeing people with fresh ideas, vibrant personalities, high levels of motivation and great energy/momentum. Without true strong leaders, without young strong captains, effective mentors and wise elders stepping up to the front of the line, we are not going to see anything but more corrosion and decay.

One thing I've learned for sure: arguing politics on on-line forums accomplishes very little for all the energy we put into it. I would suggest we would all accomplish more by going out and volunteering with an organization that is doing something useful, especially local groups since we are headed toward most of life being more locally centered.

My wife and I are going to a training seminar to see if we qualify for stewardship of a section of local nature conserved land. I hope that happens- I think it would give me renewed life instead of numbness.
