Silver pressed cds

Hey,

I just was wondering what the difference was between ads and cd-r's. Does one of them sound better? Is one more expense?

Silver pressed CD's are pressed very similar to vinyl records. There is a master plate which gets pressed onto the blank disc, which embeds the digital data onto the disc. Thus they're less susceptible to degradation or corruption over time.

With CD-R, there is a layer of ink on the blank disc. When the data is "written," the ink layer is heated and basically reogranized so that when it's read, it reflects the properties of coded data onto the laser.
