I agree. It also stops the grandstanding by the democrats, which is also positive.mickeyrat said:The Juggler said:

If the dems don’t get 20 for impeachment, they just need 4 to flip to gain control of the senate and 13 for a filibuster proof majority. They should also be holding these hearings in public.2 things.1. it denies gop from grandstanding during public hearings like we have seen.2. more important allows the witnesses to be more forthcoming in that setting.
I've also heard that by making it private it is mostly democrat lawyers asking questions...which is also a net positive.
Let them gather the evidence and once the trial in the Senate happens (where this will all really matter) it will be public and the democrats should be well prepared and organized. All the groundwork and foundation of impeachment in place.0 -

2018disconnected lawyers like the one who ripped into Corey Lewandowski. That should be the way this bullshit is handled.

Yeah, this may all well be true but I am primarily concerned about public sentiment because that seems to be the only thing that will sway republican senator's minds. I have a feeling that the longer this goes on behind closed doors, the more impatient the public will become which may feed back into the president's narrative of it being another version of the witch hunt.dignin said:

Definitely a fine line the dems are walking here between dotting all the i's/crossing all the t's and handling the politics of the impeachment process. I think they have to be as aggressive as possible politically.Post edited by The Juggler onwww.myspace.com0 -
Nancy knows what she’s doing and what she’s doing is ensuring that the charges stick. The repubs are waiting to see which way the polling winds blow. All of the evidence will come out either during the run up to the impeachment vote or during the senate trial. And the evidence will be overwhelming and voters will pay attention, particularly indies. Repubs will have a choice, POS Team Trump Treason or the Constitution. The Juggler said:

Yeah. I know all this. This is the plan. I’m just worried about it losing some steam with everything being done behind closed doors is all....Halifax2TheMax said:

Drip, drip, drip. It’s not going to lose steam as the dems will strategically leak if needed. Better a slow, deliberate process. The dems should be pounding the theme of, “if a witch hunt, why all the non-cooperation, lying and cover up?”The Juggler said:

I understand Juggler's concern and appreciate your stalwart faith it will all work out. I have to say, I learn toward the concern myself but hope for the much desired (by most of us) outcome!Halifax2TheMax said:

Nancy knows what she’s doing and what she’s doing is ensuring that the charges stick. The repubs are waiting to see which way the polling winds blow. All of the evidence will come out either during the run up to the impeachment vote or during the senate trial. Yeah, this may all well be true but I am primarily concerned about public sentiment because that seems to be the only thing that will sway republican senator's minds.
All the groundwork and foundation of impeachment in place.
Definitely a fine line the dems are walking here between dotting all the i's/crossing all the t's and handling the politics of the impeachment process. I think they have to be as aggressive as possible politically.
Timing is everything.

It's a given that he will be impeached at this point, probably this year. Public sentiment is the main thing driving senate republicans, though, so keeping an eye on the polls is important. This is not going to be easy for the dems...brianlux said:
