That's pretty good. Gives teams at the bottom an incentive to stay competitive.

Are 2 utility startes too many for a 16-team league?

My opinions:

I think you should another hitting category to balance it out. (Or drop a pitching category.) No SBs?

I think 2 UTIL is fine since there are only 3 OF and no CI or MI.

Any thought to Saves+Holds instead of just Saves?

Scoring wise we are currently in between a few schools of thought, I guess we need to pick one. Wins we debated last year and went with QS and I think that went well so I am game to use it again. Substitute QS for the Wins below:

6×6 Slightly Saber Roto
(BA/OBP/R/RBI/HR/SB and K/ERA/WHIP/Saves/Wins/Holds)

5×5 Old-School Roto

(BA/R/RBI/HR/SB and K/ERA/WHIP/Saves/Wins)

5×5 New-School Roto
(OBP/R/RBI/HR/SB and K/ERA/WHIP/Saves/Wins)

would definitely add steals for hitting.....like the 5x5 New School but would suggest minimum innings pitched be targeted at at least 18 innings each week....wins opens opportunities for your entire pitching to pick one up but okay either way if QS is choice instead......don't think we've included holds before but i'm game (although probably shouldn't be its own category, maybe combined with saves?)...love this time of year, March is a beast month for fantasy sports!

Yeah, that's a fair point. I think the logic is that speed is a tool and that's really the only way to incorporate it. I really hope someday a simple way to measure defensive ability is developed and that can be added. The current stats are still too wonky.

For what it's worth there were 5,500 homers last year and 2,500 steals across MLB. I'm pro SB but ultimately fine with whatever people want.

I’m also fine with whatever if I end up with a spot in the league.

In the league my friends and I do on yahoo it’s points rather than categories.  The nice thing about that is SB are weighted (one point) versus home runs (six points) and so on.  I’m good with categories though too, we had used those when we set our pool up initially.
