Anyone else catching the Laker game earlier in the day at Staples? This was my original reason for coming to LA for the weekend but then Ed decided to make the trip even more special for me. Doesn't hurt I am catching a Dodger's game too!

Talk about a trifecta! Those are three of my favorite things! Dodgers, Lakers and Eddie. I'm very jealous.

I hate the Lakers and have a general indifference about the Dodgers, just so you know.

I'm way up too....section 316 row 4. Seat has $25 face value and I paid $150....but for a die-hard Lakers fan money is no issue for my first HOME Lakers game.

Well you are from Michigan...the Pistons don't have much to brag about. The feelings are mutual after '89 and '04....but you are a PJ fan so we have that to keep the peace between us.

Not going to the game, but I'd just like to voice my support for the Lakers, the Blue Crew and Eddie Vedder. That is all.

Well offense sell tickets brother...and when it comes to basketball the NBA has the BEST players in the world...college is a minor league. The NBA is more exciting than any other league pound for pound. Look at the drama in the western conference..so much balance...even the NFL doesn't have that. What is your sport of choice...soccer? I don't think our band would agree with you seeing as how they named their band originally after an NBA player!

its strange that you say that about a lakers/sprus game because the spurs play great defense and kobe is an excellent defender as well. and the nba is great, what do you like...hockey?

I know what you mean. In Dallas we go to the AAC. Nice venue but the old place (Reunion Arena) was where I grew up running around chasing my favorite NBA players for their autographs. I miss it. So many great games and concerts (PJ '98). I am driving out to Inglewood just so I can SEE The Forum and take a picture. Wouldn't be right to come all that way and not at least see where 'Showtime' happened.

Staples Center is not so bad, in my opinion. It's big though.

  • The Forum was sweet for Lakers and is still sweet for concerts. PJ played there in 2006 and it was great. Eddie remarked how there was no corporate marketing and that was cool. Foos just played there recently which really underwhelmed me. Forum is in state of disrepair though. You can tell... It is an aging facility.

What the hell are you guys talking about?

Staples Center is a a pretty cool place to see a game. The seating is stacked more vertically than the Forum, which actually makes the view better from the seats that are far away. I remember sitting in the cheap seats at the Forum and feeling like I was WAY far away; at Staples, not so much. At the Forum, the seats are pushed pretty far back, so being in the worst seats in the house could be pretty bad...

Don't get me wrong, I love the Forum, but I think you all are exaggerating the bad aspects of Staples. Hell, it's not even that much bigger than the Forum; capacity at the Forum was 17,505, while Staples is 18,997.

And, Staples is in a much better part of the city. Although I love the nostalgia of the Forum, the city of Inglewood is an absolute shithole.

By the way, I'll be seeing Eddie on Saturday/Sunday, but no Lakers/Spurs game for me.

I do, however, have Lakers Playoff tickets for rounds 1 and 2, plus the Finals. :D

Seeing the Dodgers on Saturday night. Head to the airport in a few hours and staying tonight in Manhattan Beach. Any suggestions where to catch the Lakers game on the tube in Manhattan beach? Need some advice from the locals for this Texan See you all in a few hours!!!

My guess is they will hold Bynum out until the playoffs, just to be safe. Phil said yesterday there was an outside chance he would play Sunday but they won't know until Saturday and see how the knee responds after practice today. It would be good because you know it will fire up the crowd for the nationally broadcast game. Are you Los Angelinos gonna make this Texan an honarary citizen for the weekend? I have been a Laker fan for over 20 years and a dream is coming true Sunday to see them at home! I can't wait!!!
