Ok Pearl Jam- NC Governor is OUT! Come back soon!

The NC Governor who put the HB2 law into place finally conceded! Our new Governor has made it known he plans on repealing it.

As a fan who waited 22 YEARS to finally score front row seats to the Raleigh show only to have the band understandably cancel, I'm hoping you will come back ASAP! #1 on my bucket list was those front row seats! Thanks for taking a stand on what ultimately affected so many North Carolina families like my own.

Hope to see you SOON!

McRory finally dropped out, good! He was terrible when we were there, and that law was awful.
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

Agreed, we'd love for them to come to Raleigh. That was going to be my wife's first PJ show.
    Maybe a double-headliner with Bruce. :)

Great news! Does the new governor have the power by himself to repeal it, or does he need support form the state government?

Nope, doesn't have the power, and the state government has no plans on repealing anything as of now.
  • I am anxious to see how this progresses. I am overjoyed that Cooper is now our governor, but I am skeptical on how long it will take to repeal HB2. The Republican party now have full control over the Senate and House – so it will still be a battle for him.

This is a major step, but the fight is far from over. Our country fucked up royally and voted for Captain Combover. I think what has happened in NC may be mirrored throughout the country in the next four years.

Boycotts only hurt people that rely on their weekly paychecks, not the political and financial elite

but whatever makes people feel good

A republican governor lost the state even though Trump carried it fairly convincingly. I'd say the boycott was pretty effective in helping to bring about change.

I think it will be a challenge to completely overturn HB2 and would love to see that happen. However, one thing that we all in NC must do is to be sure to vote next fall in the local elections that are being done due to the unconstitutional redistricting/gerrymandering that the GOP put in place over the past decade. - - We must show up for the local elections to the state house and senate! - - If HB2 is going to be completely repealed it will have to go through state government. (However, there was also federal lawsuits stemming from HB2 being unconstitutional, but I am not sure where those stand)

Dude, they cut our city in half and put us in with Gaston county. unbelievable. and this was back in 2010.
that's why we are known as the "Cesspool of Sin". thanks to that redneck legislator that was horrified by being in the same district as Asheville.
