I laughed at Democrats and liberal friends in 2000 who warned Bush was going to take us to war in Iraq. Trump is surrounding himself with people who want to do the same with Iran.

Not the greatest president of modern times IMO but probably not the worst.

I think he came off as a genuinely nice guy you could talk to no matter what your leanings are. Whereas some presidents are jerks as people that you wouldn't want to talk to. Doesn't affect how good of a president they are either way.

Really? As you just said, you could talk to him no matter what your opinion which keeps open lines of communication to all citizens, government officials, world leaders, etc. That most certainly is a big part of being a good president. Maybe you have been under a rock, but there are millions of people marching worldwide right now because our new anointed leader shuts anyone down he disagrees with or doesn't like. You can't be a successful president if you're an asshole. There's a big difference between being a CEO of a company and POTUS, but apparently the Don doesn't quite get that yet and probably never will.

Yeah ive been under a rock. Im simply saying that being a great guy doesn't guarantee being a great president. I think Carter is the greatest human being of the 45 presidents but a so-so president. Too early to judge where Obama resides on my chart. Like i said, definitely cant see him being the worst of the last 40 years. Going to be hard to top W in that regard. So far Reagan and Clinton are my favorites for managing the country and neither were scandal free. Its all personal opinion based on what we care about and we think "good" is. I like how when Obama spoke it was thought out. Smart guy. Definitely didnt agree with a lot of his opinions but you could tell he cared.

I don't know what the next four years will bring but there's a very good reason why GWB has stayed very very quiet the last 8 years. I have to thank him for that he probably knows how toxic his name brings now to political points of views.

How Reagan is still help in such high regard by so many people is absolutely bonkers to me. Every major thing that he implemented worked for the 8 years he was in office but has gone on to do major damage to this country. When I think of the name Reagan, I think of 2 things, trickle down economics and the war on drugs, by now you'd have to be completely oblivious to think that either of those worked long term.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to bash you cp3, I'm sure my perspective might be skewed because I didn't actually live through those times and I might think differently if I got to enjoy those years when those policies were working. But from the outside looking in trickle down was a huge failure and we still haven't been able to stop the bleeding from it 30 some years later. Yet for some reason he's still the poster boy for republicans and even many moderates.

I'm fairly confident that history will look much more fondly upon Obama's presidency than Reagan's in, let's say, 50 years time.

I agree. I watched a Reagan doc last night and I honestly don't see how the current Republican Party can wet their pants over him time and time again. The GOP of today would have eaten him alive. They'd say he was weak on the Soviets with how he negotiated. Not to mention raising taxes. I guess it all stems from Reaganomics, perhaps. But if he were a Republican today, he'd be almost as far left as they get today.

Having lived through Reagan and his level of sucking, the revisionist history around him is crazy.
