I'm pretty sure Lukin was after North Country...but im going on very little sleep at this point so i could be wrong.
Either way...EPIC show...better than both Vancouver shows i attended earlier this year. Ed was in fine form...clearly moved by the huge ovation to start the show. Random memories.
- Loved the city. Spent 3 days in Montreal and said it reminded him of Seattle (w/the rain).
- NEW SONG!!! Kinda felt like when he pulled out Gone for the first time...said it was 48 hours old. I saw more than a few people recording this one so expect a leak at some point. Kinda rough (for me at least) at first put kinda built up to something nice.
- Small Town....didn't seem like this one was on the setlist...Ed obviously felt the crowd needed a sing along before getting into the deeper stuff.
- Masters of War....very intense! Ed was just ripping through this one....f**k ups and all.
- Forever Young with the young girl and her dad on stage was very, very touching.
- Throw Your Arms Around Me....wow this was easily a highlight for me...Liam and Ed work wonderfully together on this one! The whole 1st encore was top notch.
- Seemed like a LONG show (in a very good way). My watched showed 11:15pm end time which i believe is a good 20 minutes longer than usual.
All in all, a fantastic night....thanks 10C for great seats (9th row center)! On to TO!

I went to both Montreal shows and felt like the second show was stronger set-wise but the first show Eddie was more personable. Both were really great shows, I'm so glad I went to both to see different sides to the ev solo experience. The crowd tonight was, I think, more lively and willing to sing along. There was minimal Eddie chanting. Somehow people are still managing to record/photograph the shows despite the checks at security. At one point all four people seated in front of me had their devices out recording/photographing the show... and the set was only a few songs in.
Masters of War was a real highlight, he tore through that song with such intensity. Someone in the crowd requested "Spin the Black Circle" and it would have been great to hear just a snippet of that song but ev just laughed saying that the request was akin to a hooker saying you can't touch her.
The little girl, Jenna, had just turned 8 earlier this month. I met her outside during a long, long wait for ev behind the building (first and last time I will ever do that). Her and her dad were great to chat with and Jenna kept my dog occupied for a good hour while we waited. Jenna was so patient waiting all afternoon for ev to show up (he finally did close to 7:30!) She was definitely rewarded for her patience. Eddie commented after that this was her first concert and that she's surely "ruined forever". I can't imagine a better first concert than one where you're up on stage on a chair facing ev while the crowd and ev sing Happy Birthday and then Eddie serenades you with Forever Young.
Damn. fine. night.

comparing this tour to the west coast ev tour... from the set lists and what i've seen in pictures, it looks exactly like the vancouver show i flew out to from toronto earlier in the year.
can anyone tell me if the shows differ greatly (aside from the setlists)?
I've got my 10c tickets for this tuesday's toronto show, im just debating if i should start preparing to find a scalped ticket to the wednesday show, if i should just wait and see the tuesday show (which would definitly make me want to go to the wednesday show) or just not bother at all and save my money for university books?
I've seen pearl jam / vedder 3 times this year already if that changes the poll (althought theres never too much pearl jam for me)

Oh you should - start trying now! Maybe Massey Hall will drop some tickets on the day of. You'll want to see more than one I'm sure. Sure there's a lot of similarities in the setlist, but that's not why you go to more. You go to hear Ed sing those songs LIVE in front of you, and for all the little funny things that happen, and those are unique to each show.

Well i went out to both Vancouver shows, and i think i saw 9-10 "new" songs last night in Montreal...so definitely worth it.
Granted i don't expect to see as many new songs tomorrow in TO, but im still excited as heck...even if i have seen Ed (solo and with the band) 5 times in the last few months.

I'd definately look into getting tickets for both shows. Something tells me the Massey Hall shows are going to be memorable. Eddie is a huge Neil Young fan (No Shit)and I'm sure he knows the significance of Massey Hall and Uncle Neil...So...I'm pretty sure that he possibly bust out a Neil tune or two.
Also..."I'm One" "Blackbird" "Girl from the North Country" as well as this "new song" are all unique to the east coast tour. And I'm hoping to hear all of these songs as well.
Plus the beer is stronger in Canada so Eddie will be in a very good mood
I remember now , it is after let my love open the door !! :-)

Also, if you are going to include RVM snippet we should probably include Small Town singalong before Walking the Cow...

Awesome show last night. Eddie was intense when singing and funny when chatting. The covers were amazing.
But I have to say, I got what I expected from Eddie, but I still can't get over Liam Finn. I know it's been said before but it can't be said enough: get in early to catch Liam Finn!!! I didn't know him before this show but had read some of the previous fanviews so I was curious and the dude blew me away!!! He F-n rocked the place last night!!! Not many people seemed to know him but he converted the crowd and got a standing O from the three-quarter filled room after his performance.
