The dems need to put up an outsider. Maybe a governor who can deliver for the working class.

AOC is not a bad candidate.

And why is the growth economy (which is based on the belief in growth for the sake of growth, the ideology of the cancer cell) the focus of so much of politics rather than the health of the planet, and equality, and ending racism, sexism, and homophobia?  This whole thing seems all out of whack to me.

    Because humans are inherently selfish.
Yeah the magats still use the old "sure is cold today...so much for global warming" argument

Am I the only one who wonders why the working class feels so down trodden?  The bigger problem is that a few people have almost all the wealth.   And besides, the working class are better off now under Biden than they will be under the Felon's thumb.   And maybe we need more emphasis on learning the difference between want and need.  And why is the growth economy (which is based on the belief in growth for the sake of growth, the ideology of the cancer cell) the focus of so much of politics rather than the health of the planet, and equality, and ending racism, sexism, and homophobia?  This whole thing seems all out of whack to me.

They were left out. Harris should have courted them more with tax cuts, etc. She did throw out several ideas but it just didn't stick like the "no tax on tips, no tax on OT" bullshit from captain fuckface.

In hindsight they really blew it with the low income voters and male GenZ

If we are to believe exit polls, the election was lost because the Dems lost a quarter of the Latino vote, after doing nothing when the Cuban vote in Miami flipped 300,000 votes in 2020.

We can easily confirm exit polls by looking at how weak the Dems performed in states with the largest Latino populations. NY TX FL NJ…Holy f*ckstick he almost won Jersey.

going on a wild guess here but if the dem leadership is thinking like this, the Dems are toast for awhile.

think hard about the working class Latino vote. Hourly workers… manual labor…hard working. The last thing that speaks to these voters is some complicated tax cut plan or fancy govt program (or trans rights)  and it’s likely most of them don’t pay much (income) tax to begin with.

Do not believe Exit Polling at this point. Wait until Pew releases its polling in a few months. Immediate Exit Polling is always flawed

look at Miami Dade. It went red. I was shocked to see that. Hillary clobbered Trump there. I have no doubts he flipped Latinos.

I'm not talking about complication...the child credit doesn't get much easier. If we increase the credit from $2K to $6K per child that is huge.

I just don't think Harris explained it well enough.

You are correct, for audiences like me and you. Unfortunately it does not look like that resonates with the working class Latinos that flipped for trump

Nick, you are spot on. The Texas Gov was smart enough to know that busing migrants to Manhattan would create chaos and it did. Even if stats show that undocumented migrants have a lower crime rate than everyone else, it doesn’t matter. The city has become a mess and democrats lost ten points in NYS

As far as Tim’s comment about waiting for Pew, that would be a big mistake from democrats. Go state by state and look at trumps gains from four and eight years ago in the states with larger Latino populations, vs states with a smaller one. NY already mentioned.

TX and FL are two states Dems used to be hopeful about. Not anymore. Trump gained over ten points in each, as he also did in NJ, which was almost as competitive as the swing states.

it may be very well the case Latinos peace’s out in a greater number. Also dems aren’t fucking this shit in those 3 months. They can wait to come up with a longer term plan of action until then.

nothing wrong with that, I guess they got at least a year before planning for midterms.

but for anyone that wants a shocker, go state by state and see what trump did on a state level, including in deep blue regions/counties

as far as NYS goes, the counties near me that I can recall offhand, trump gained-

    manhattan, (the liberal stronghold) +6

    queens +20

    brooklyn +11

    Nassau +14

They need to really refine their message and priorities.  No longer can they just bank on inner-city vote pushing them over the top.  Need to speak to everyone.

The Republicans/Trump have a mandate as of now.  2 Years will be here quick.  The economy is doing pretty good and we are in relative peace-time.  If those things change, the rubber band will snap back.

Dems refining their messaging doesn’t mean squat. Their messaging doesn’t break through the caveman brain. What is the dem version of Joebro and Alex Sandy Hook was a staged event Jones? Nothing gets through to these folks in significant enough numbers to make a difference regardless of “medium.” Lost cause.

Interesting read from a NYT opinion columnist.

We've been saying for years that the GOP did a great job convincing working class people to vote for them. Unfortunately this year they were able to grab even more. I'm not sure anyone could have done that other than trump which is why he is such a danger to our system.

He's a great actor. Only a great actor could lie like that, dodge questions, and still have no one hold him accountable.

The party lost both houses and the presidency to a party run by Trump and his synchophants.

It's a third party now. Time to focus on local and statewide elections and shoot for something like 2036 to take another shot at the White House. Do what the Libertarian and Green parties should have been doing and build up to national contention.
