I usually wake up late because I was partying fucking balls out the previous night. Then I either hang out or go explore around. Then I go to the show and party fucking balls out afterward.

If I'm traveling for the show, I'll explore the city for a bit in the morning and then find a bar by early afternoon. Or, if the situation allows, show up early afternoon and set up the tailgate. I gave up on merch lines a long time ago.
