I'm driving up from Boston tomorrow, so I'll have a few hours in the afternoon and maybe a few hours on Sunday, too - what should I *not* miss while I am there?

If the weather is nice (not to sure about that) you can go walk in
1) the old Montreal and old port area
2) St-Denis street between St-Catherine st. and Mont-Royal st.
3) You could go walk on the Mont Royal, you can get a nice view of the whole city from the belvedere
4) There is also Ste-Catherine st. between St-Laurent and Peel.
Those are the main area....
If it rains.......The underground could be an alternative. Although they talk a lot about it, it's mostly a bunch of shopping mall all connected together so that the restless consumers can shop without going outside during the winter. The underground network is quite large.
Like the others said Old Montreal is beautiful. Check out Notre dame if you're down there. Whether you're in to religion or not it is a beautiful building. And if you like to shop check out St. Catherines and the underground city.

Yes I have observed this - they are very casual about the drinking age. While the drinking age is officially 18, I could *easily* have purchased and given my 13 year old a drink if I chose, at a club show we went to. (Neither of us drink) There was no ID check, no hand stamp. Its an easygoing place.

Montréal are a real nice city, it's not like Mansfield where I can't buy myself a beer for the show because my ID are in French..... I'm 33 years old.... I'm not looking like 21....
In Montréal you can have a lot of fun without all the control freak that I saw in Comcast center...

Yeah, I had to sneak beers to my 28 year old gf because she only had one form of ID at Mansfield I. It felt like we were in college again.
