    i've often wondered if any species that live among us are alien to this world. some have hypothesized that octopus is not from here. i can't remember why, but when given the explanation, it didn't sound too out there. found it:

    They're using that metaphorically to emphasize the unusual nature of octopus behaviour and their genetic makeup, not to say that they are literally aliens. They still have the same DNA, RNA, and the like as all the living creatures on our planet, which would seem to be vanishingly unlikely if they literally were aliens.

    One thing for sure is they definitely look like the could be alien. How about the giant squid?

    I know that. But octopuses are just an obvious example of an animal we all know about. what is the number, like 95% of all living things are still undiscovered?
