Why no West Coast tour?

not to sound harsh, but PJ kind of gave the West Coast the shaft this year. Me and my friends were all looking forward to summer tour, and were expecting them to ad dates, but it never happened! Does anyone know why?

the tour was built around Bonnaroo (according to Mike). Also Ed was doing his solo thing along with everyone working on a new album = no west coast tour

Living in LA, it is a bit disappointing, but we are not alone. Everyone wants some PJ.

I'm pretty sure they toured the East for three reasons.

1.) It was easy to schedule dates around bonneroo. They were going to do this festival and with all the equipment it took, it wasn't much of a stretch to do an eleven stop leg.

2.) I think they wanted to to get on stage together to help the creative juices flow for the next album. That connection to each other can only be enhanced by a small mini tour.

3.) The East Coast is the #1 Fan saturated Area in the Pearl Jam world. Selling tickets, and doing multiple dates is a slam dunk in the North East. A quick easy, enjoyable buck or two doesn't hurt the Band and their crew.

Without Eddie doing Solo stuff, Eddie having a little one on the way, and the desire to put out a new record, I'm sure the West Coast would have gotten it's tour.

I'm fine without it, (although doesn't hurt that I hit MSG I and II), as I realize these guys all have lives to lead.

Now as to 2009/2010. I'll start to get uber upset if we don't get the boys sometime for an extended World Tour.

But as I mentioned in some past posts I'm pretty sure they will promote their new album with a Tour that will rival any they have ever done.

    oh you didn't hear?

to promote the new album, next year, there will be no national or international tours...

next summer, pearl jam are going to play 5 nights in each major city on the west coast starting in san diego and ending in seattle

    suck it east coast bytchez!!!!

    :p:D:D
  • What sucks is that this year was my last chance to see them probably. I'm going to a little isolated college next year(Humboldt) and the closest show to that would be San Fransisco. And I'll be super broke. Unless...they'll be in LA during the summer. In which case, I'll be home. I have hope yet!!

Yep, you will be isolated. :) We have relatives that live there and we travel there every Thanksgiving. It's not an easy or quick trip. But, beautiful. :)

4.)They wanted to earn a little money for PJ inc. It's ok to admit now and then that Pearl Jam is also a business. It's no coincidence that over the years as there album sales have softened the touring has increased.(which is a good thing for us fans).

Haha ya. I'm going to Humboldt, there is bound to be Pearl Jam fans there. I just found out there is a bus that leaves to SF everyday from the campus that is super cheap.

    Exactly

Besides, I need a vacation and you need them to play while you have some money, so it would be rude for them not to do a West Coast tour.

i almost went there! ended up picking chico instead, mainly because of the isolation factor. it sure is beautiful though, and you can totally see them when they come back to san fran, someday.

Did you miss the thread where Tim confirmed no more additional dates? Why were you waiting? It's one thing for them to be silent, but when they come right out and say no more additional dates, what do you expect?
