LA Forum Temple of the Dog Show - Hotels and 10C Meet-ups?

Excuse me if there is a already a buried post about this, but here goes...

I was distraught to miss out on the 10C seats for Seattle and LA, but at least I got a decent single public ticket for the LA show.

I'm wondering how many other 10C members or PJ fans are driving up from San Diego for this in a couple weeks?

It will be a nice 5 day weekend for me (Veteran's Day + Show Day + Post Show Recovery Day), but since I'm going solo I am hoping I can entertain myself or find some new PJ friends to kick it with before the show.

Anyways...I still need to lock in a hotel room for Monday night, and I need to figure out my pre-show plan. Anyone from SD already book a room or planning to book a room? And does anyone have any pre-show activities planned already? I love to hang with fellow 10 Clubbers and PJ fans before shows.

Thanks hsohi. I don't think I'm the lone San Diegan 10C member (or big PJ fan) who will be going, so I'm pumped. It won't be the same great experience I had front and center in the pit for the San Diego (Chula Vista) Prophets of Rage show, but it will be a different great experience. Here's to hoping Ed is there! Really though...how can Eddie not attend? He was a huge part of their most popular song.

I just booked the Best Western Airpark Hotel. Decent price for LA (about $150 including parking and breakfast), decent looking neighborhood, and very close to the venue at a 5 minute drive.

I'm coming up solo from San Diego and looking to meet some fellow PJ/TOTD fans and possibly share an uber to and back (and of course, looking for some pre & post show camaraderie).

Let me know if anyone else is staying here and going to the show!

I live in LA but will be at the show as well. unfortunately the area is a dump so the best bet is to tailgate in the lot. will keep an ear out to see if any pre events pop up though

Yeah, it looks like Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles or Randy's Donuts (if I want to cross the highway) may be my only two walking options. Worst case scenario, I end up driving the 5 minutes to the Forum and tailgating somewhere outside...with myself or whoever else wants to show.

Unfortunately i have to work that day till 6 and then scramble across LA to get there so i dont know if ill have much time for tailgating. But ill try to make it if something is set up

Yes, it's right across the street from my hotel and a 5 minute straight shot East to the Forum. Seems like a friendly looking place...though I'm white as a lilly so I hope that's okay. But dollars (to the owner/mgmt) are all green, right?

You are not going to want to walk around at night after the show...not even sure you should do that in the day.
The area is still going through a transition period and is not quite there yet. Tailgating is your best bet but I would keep it on the down low.

We are driving up from Santa Barbara but will only have enough time for a drink in the car (after parking) before going in, provided we don't run into a major traffic event.

Can't wait for this show! .....if they are getting better with every show, by the time they get to LA we will be in for even more of a treat!

Yes you're probably right. Not sure a meet-up in a little dive bar in a possibly sketchy area is worth it. Would love to meet at a nice big bar near the beach and then take a party bus to the venue with a crew after (and a quick Uber back to my hotel after probably), but leaning towards just having a couple drinks and a smoke in the parking lot and getting in early enough to catch the opener. But we'll see.

Definitely don't recommend walking in that area. No one walks in LA (couldn't resist). For an 8 PM show, what would be a time to meetup?

Laughed at the idea of walking around there. You are from SD, you should know! Lived in SoCal for 20 years and I do suggest hungover eating at Roscoe's. Truly excellent hangover food!
Hope you have an absolute blast, the Philly show was so much fun.

I'm going to try to leave San Diego at 3. No idea how the 405 is going to treat me, I should be up there before 6 to pick up my tickets. I’m not really interested in the opener, just want to get a poster before they sell out. Any Idea if they will have merchandise outside?

San Diego or out of town peeps who may be solo (like me this trip) or looking for a pre-show meet-up...I just changed my hotel from the Best Western Airpark (Inglewood - across from Roscoe's) to the Days Inn, which is West of the 405 at 901 West Manchester Blvd (Los Angeles). It's about $17 cheaper than the other place (free parking so $120 out the door) and I'm hoping in a slightly better area as it's further West. No hot tub, but it is right next to a Mexican place and around the corner appears to be a brewery (Three Weavers Brewing Company). PM me if you're interested in meeting up. I'll either be wearing my 2013 San Diego PJ shirt or my new Prophets of Rage shirt. Looking forward to TOTD!!! : )

I havent been to three weavers brewery yet but i was drinking 2 of their brews during game 7 of the WS. Good stuff.

Yes, as of right now, maybe a bite to eat at Roscoe's (they do have beer, but per the online menu it doesn't look like a very good selection) or somewhere just West of the Forum, and then hit the parking lot for a bit. I plan on getting into town pretty early so I'll do some scoping out. Stay tuned (unless anyone else has a better suggestion). I e-mailed Three Weavers Brewery to let them know there is a Temple of the Dog concert that day and it would be nice if they were open. Maybe if they got enough people doing the same, they'd open for us?

If Monday Night Football isn't enough of a draw for them to be open on Mondays during the fall, I doubt they'd open for a one-off concert.

Not sure if tailgating is permitted at the Forum...drive past and pretty baron...wife and I went up the road to the Mexican joint called Fiesta Martin. It's Happy Hour!!!

I will be hanging by/in my car and doing some solo 'tailgating' probably from 6-7. At the Days Inn right now and ready for a couple beers by the pool and some Mexican food to coat the belly. Can't wait!
