Man Chooses Jail Over Home With Wife.....He Robs a Bank!

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2016/09/08/report-man-chooses-jail-over-home-his-wife-robs-bank/89994004/

Ok so let's see here, man has a argument with his wife over a dryer. Writes a note in front of her then takes note to rob a bank. Robs the bank of nearly $3,000 then takes a seat in the bank. He arrested then a judge sometime later releases him. So basically he leaves a prison to commit a crime to get away from said prison for a big house prison only to be returned that original prison. Geez what's a 70 year to do...

Apparently it's pretty common for people to escape life by getting themselves sent to prison. Marital hell, financial problems (including homelessness), even just laziness to such a degree that they simply don't want to take care of the basics, like preparong their meals or acquiring clothes. There are actually people out there (not many, but some) who decided that prison is easier than living in society.

That's pretty sad. I cannot imagine purposely giving up all of your rights to live the life of an inmate. Pretty much societal suicide. I cannot judge them without having walked in their shoes, but the sociologist in me definitely wants to interview a few.

I gather you are right, didn't think of it as a larger problem. After he wrote that note he was going to rob the bank his wife didn't believe he was actually going to do it.

Was his wife pregnant? Having a son born just a couple months ago, I would totally understand that.

Well he's 70 years old, I kinda doubt she was pregnant but you know those household equipment can cause all sorts of marital problems.

  • He's a gentleman. He should get time off for good behavior. Let him stay in jail, dammit!

Yeah, I agree it's sad. A person has to really be incredibly depressed or feeling so hopeless to be thinking that prison is preferable to their life in society. I imagine it's probably pretty close to being suicidal.
