Lightning Bolt and Nothingman

Could be nothing (and maybe this has already been posted) but what do you all think of the lyrics, "Caught a bolt of lightning, cursed the day he let it go" (Nothingman) compared to Lightning Bolt's, "You got to know you'll never let her go, she's a lightning bolt." I usually get so caught up in the sound of PJ's music that I often overlook how dynamic Ed's lyrics are. It hit me when I was listening to Vitalogy the other day. Via shedding light on the lyrics of songs during live shows (in general, not regarding Nothingman specifically) , I get the picture that PJ is trying to make more positive and hopeful music. This made wonder if Ed used Lightning Bolt as a way to lightly reconcile the older darker Nothingman (think using advice from the song Present Tense). The reasons could be many. But I do get the sense that, with these two songs, there is lyrical intent to achieve a "coming full circle" kind of thing. Has anyone had similar ideas when considering older songs with newer songs?
