Yeah, I know, some of you are thinking this sounds at least a little provincial but I grew up in a very culturally diverse Bay Area around San Francisco so I get it (haha!). Despite being here 20 years, I'm just not all that into the whole wild wild west and cowboy thing. But the thing that is cool about this week-long event is that groups and competitors from over 20 countries are here in our little town. The various contingencies from these countries participated in a parade on Main Street. I was so cool to see people from as far away as the Czech Republic and Japan and South Africa and New Zealand and many more. Always happy to see more diversity around here, I was probably one of the more enthusiastic spectators at that parade!

Sorry! I did a book fair last weekend and was so wrapped up in that business that I forgot about the gold panning event. Now all of the sudden it's here. Life moves fast!
