Show #1 is phenomenal - I prefer it to show #2..... I like the Yield tracks - and the sound is very good on the FLAC bootlegs I purchased. The sound in person both nights on the turf was the best I can remember hearing at a concert. The clear sound quality of these Boston bootlegs makes it difficult to go back and listen to the two Toronto shows I attended in May ...... but that's a good, first world problem to have :)

How can this be when everyone says that the sound at stadium shows is terrible and is one of the reasons people hate them?

I thought the sound for the turf sections (B5 - night 1 and B7 - night 2) was terrific. Friends of mine were in the grandstand area on the first baseline at Fenway where there was a wall behind them and they said the sound was less desirable in that area. I saw DMB at Citifield back in 2010 from field level and the sound was very good then too. I've never sat in the actual ballpark seats at the three ballpark shows I've attended, but my experiences with concert sounds at ballparks have been excellent..... much preferred over large hockey arenas. With that being said, I thought the sound at the London, Ontario 2013 show in a smaller hockey arena was good. To each their own.

I totally agree with you. I've seen shows at a few stadiums and have always felt that the sound was excellent. The sound in Fenway was amazing! We were also in B5 night 1, but had grandstand night 2. The sound was perfect in both locations.

I never understood why so many people always say that staidum shows have terrible sound. I'm sure there can be some spots that don't sound as good, but that also happens in arenas.

Winamp or VLC Media Player. That's what I use on my Pearl Jam PC Workstation.

MusicBee works, too. A little "lighter" than Winamp.

Out in the open (night 1 for me), the sound was great. Under the roof night 2, it got a little echo-y and muddled (not that I didn't love the show that night). The night 2 boot sounds better than the concert did for me.

Tried the Pono Music Player. Just wasn't a fan.
Still using WinAmp & VLC Player. Any audio formatted file I throw at them each, they will play it all. :)

I guess people have had bad experiences. I was not at Fenway but went to both Wrigley shows and they sounded absolutely fantastic!

no but i suspect it might take some time. the Philly boots took 3 weeks for me to get here and i know they said there was a backup already on the boots.
  • Sound at both Fenway and Wrigley was fantastic. I have been going to shows at Fenway for years and the progression of sound quality there has been great. I went from hating the place as a concert venue to loving it. In addition to the better sound, the amenities have vastly improved (little to no lines for bathrooms, beer, etc). I assumed it was just Fenway trying to become a legit concert venue, but the sound at Wrigley was also fantastic (the amenities, not so much). Maybe there have just been advances in baseball stadium sound delivery (if thats what its called... I'm not so techie) since these places started to become actual summer venues (rather than once-a-year events).
