Sec. S

Sat in S, row 10 on Saturday. Surrounded by great people I've never met but immediately knew were "good". The show went great, people singing, high fives, etc...no sloppy drunks, no obnoxious know it alls...it was great.

Tonight, Sec. S, row 12...see a lot of the same faces, we talk pre-show, good vibes...then the show starts. Two guys 3 and 4 seats from me cannot stop talking at the top of their lungs and constantly yelling, "PORCH IS NEXT...AND IT IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!". They cannot stay in their space and have mashed seats 1-10 because they are taking up about 4 seats. At one point during the second intermission, one guy plops down in a seat, not his and sort of tunes out. The girls next to me clearly want to sit but don't want to engage, so I tapped the guy and told him to move down so they could sit in their seats. He did and he and his buddy made jokes.

Then...the guy in row 11...CONSTANTLY recording by holding his phone above his head blocking the view of others behind. Eventually, the guy behind him just snatched his phone. Drunk "EvenBros" posturing goes on and instead of watching the show, we are all on alert for a drunken fight. I felt very bad for the Dad right next to the camera guy who has his maybe 14-15 year old daughter with him. The guy who snatched the phone (and gave it back) was eventually asked to leave and thing sorted out.

I am incredibly lucky to have won seats for both nights, but seriously...do we really need to put up with the drunken nonsense all the time? Saturday was SO nice, to be around fellow fans who are into the music. Tonight was a great show, but I'll also have memories of the stupidity that I had to share it with.

That is all. Move along. I'm done being an old fart now.

  • Agree. Strangely fans seemed to have been better sat. I would have thought Monday would be the diehards. But great show regardless. Been chasing BRY forever and that first encore, woah.

Agreed. I sort of had the same expectations. 3 Wrigley shows have been a bonanza of awesome.
  • God imagine what we would have heard with one more night. Love this band so much. Evenbros, notwithstanding.....

I think 2 nights is the sweet spot. Any more and you start getting repeats, guys have to be getting tired, etc. I'm thinking this is one of the better two night stands in their history.
  • I dunno I saw 4 shows in a row once and it was really incredible how much variety their was... But agree diminishing returns probably at some point.

I feel for you, this was my Saturday experience:

I had an evenbro incident last night. Was in GA, at the rail that borders the friends/family/all access section of GA (about 15 feet back from the main rain), and had been there with my wife for hours (we flew in from Vancouver), when towards the end of the first set, 2 evenbros force their way into the rail, pushing two guys that had been there all day away. At which point evenbro #1 proclaimed to evenbro #2, "dude, you gotta piss here, if you don't piss here, it will take like 45 mins to go out to the bathroom and back" his friend then seemed apprehensious about pissing into the friends/family section (which would have notably been onto one older lady who had told us she had flown from Seattle and it was her 50th show), evenbro #1 then continues to urge evenbro #2 "c'mon man just take it out, no one will care or notice", when I say "yeah they will care, you can't piss here", at which point evenbro #1 gets in my face saying "yeah he can piss here", and "why are you so high strung bro?", he pushed me and was really in my face. All I could say was "I don't want your buddy to piss on my legs, I'm wearing shorts" and "no one wants you to piss here, have some respect." Resisting any urge to punch him in the face, and with his friend imminently about to piss, which would have sprayed all over the place, my wife got so disgusted she led us away from the area, and we watched the remainder of the show from the back of GA. Not the end of the world, still great view, but for a "10C members only section" I was pretty disappointed by these 2 eveners.

I like to have drinks just like anyone else, but when my favourite band is playing, I want to enjoy every second of it...I want to remember every second of it. Frankly, I can get drunk any night of the week and listen to them on vinyl, so when I'm blessed to have them in my town, or travel to see them, I want to soak up every second.
