Hey Guys,

So I have been trying to get my parents to understand my obsession for PJ for about 15 years now. They still don't. I sometimes think its just because when you get old you start to devalue many things and not see the importance in such things as art, music etc in relation the rest of thier life. Anyhow....I just found out my Dad will be in Chicago on Thursday Aug 21 with nothing to do but sit in his hotel and I want to send him to see Ed. I know he will love it. How could he not?

Does anyone have 1 extra ticket for Ed Chi 1 that I could buy off you for face for my pops. I need him to see the show to start to understand a little more about me. I have been improving my relationship with my father a lot lately and I really want to bridge this very important gap. He's never joined me for any of the 40+ Jam/Ed shows i've been to and its time he saw what its all about.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE OR KNOW ANYONE WHO HAS A DESCENT CHI 1 (8/21/08) TICKET I CAN BUY OFF OF THEM AT FACE.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

TipJammer

********* Looking for an 8/21/08 THURSDAY ticket. The Headline is wrong and I can't change it.**********

*** BTW...My Dad is cool as hell if you are worried about sitting next to some old dude. And he's hit two hole in ones. Ask him about it. He'd love that.***

You rock LukinFan. Thanks for the assist.

A fan club extra would the the best. My dad deserves to be down front. He'll be sitting in on my behalf.

    Cheers.

Man, I wish I could help you out. I'm gonna have an extra 10c ticket for Aug 22nd. Great cause, you or your pops aren't gonna be around for night 2? I hope somebody hooks you up, that would be really cool. I wish I could get my dad to Chicago next weekend. best of luck.

I live in SF. Caught 4 West Coast shows but couldn't afford East Coast. So I'm gonna try and live this one through Dad. I'll get a lot of joy if he comes back and says "WOW!"
  • I hope you get a ticket for your Dad TipJammer!

Music was the only thing my father and I had in common. He raised me on Neil. He hated PJ when Ten came out, but he has come around a bit (although he doesn't really admit it. I can tell) I think he understands my obsession now.

I wish I could help you out!! I hope someone can!!!

    Keep us posted.

I've been to about 15 PJ shows with my dad. He will be in Chicago next week without me. I will be at the DC shows this weekend. He is 58 and I am 30. It really is a great bonding experience when you can scream your head off with your dad in the middle of 100,000 people in 95 degree heat and rock out to an amazing show. (lolla 2007) Get to a show with your pops!!!

Right on. Almost the same situation...pops is 57 and Im 27. I think Ed is a good transition into what this whole PJ/Ed family thang is all about. It really is a pleasant experience and I don't think he understands that. He thinks he's gonna be at some raucous obnoxious concert. When in reality its like coolin in the chilliest chill zone there is. I think after this show he might change his judgements.

    Cheers.

TouchofGray... Reading your post made ME CRY! Sitting here looking out the window on the west coast at the SF Fog waiting for one of my favorite group of people to come up with a solution to my problem. And boom. I've had two people offer already. I'm so sorry about your Dad. Anyone losing their Dad brings me to my knees. Without a doubt I find PJ's saddest song to be Man of the Hour because it always reminds me of Big Fish...which I absolutely LOVE but also can't watch without turning my rough and tough exterior into a glob of mush. Thank you for sharing. I will do all that I can to cherish my relationship with my dad while I have him. BIG HUG FOR YOU. Thank you for the tip. I don't want to wait till the last min. Im gonna handle this asap.

    CHEERS.

    Hey Everyone,

Just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who posted on this thread and who offered a ticket to me for my Dad. Thanks to Brianwp my dad will be sitting in the front row of the top balcony. Probably a good spot for him. He's pumped...probably not as much as I am. He's gonna buy me a poster or two if they have both so that is great. I hope the show isn't full of loud screaming D Bags like I know it will be but whatevs...such is the show.

Thanks again to all of you. I will be sure to check back to this thread next week when I return from going INTO THE WILD as I will be backpacking in Yosemite for the next 5 days, to tell you all what he thought of the show.

Many Cheers...and have a blast if you are going too.

If you see a 57 yr old dude wandering around like he doesn't know what he's doing and he has Greyish brown hair...go up and say hello. He's gonna be out of his element. His name is Dennis and he's my pops.

    Thanks,

    Duncan

OH MAN... My Dad had a great time. He was sitting pretty high up and isn't so familiar with all that Ed is involved with so he said he had a tough time understanding some of what Ed was talking about due to the echo up top etc. I only got to speak with him briefly but will talk to him about it more soon. I asked him to pick me up the East Coast posters and he ended up buying me ALL THREE!!! I was so excited when I got out of the mountains yesterday to come find a super cool poster for the Chi show specifically. It was so in line with what I had just been doing. I spent the last four days wandering out the high country of Yosemite in Toloumne. We were off trail 100% of the time and it was crazy. I was sporting my ITW shirt when I'd get to camp as it was way too friggin hot to hike in black. I sat on a rock the second night as my friends and I hung out with a "fungi" and I listened to ITW while watching the sun fall behind a mountain range and the day turned into night. There really was something great about listening to ITW and Toloumne IN TOLOUMNE. I sat there and was thinking about how Ed was on stage in Chi right then and there ending the tour that I'll talk about forever to come. And about Chris McCandless and how insane what he did was. I'll alwasy remember sitting on that rock watching the sky turn from light blue to the sweetest deep blue to the most crowded star filled sky you can imagine. I was so happy my dad had gotten a chance to be there and I just felt like I had connected some dots and it was a really cool experience.

Thanks again everyone. Go to Yosemite if you can. I will post pics to this thread when I have them posted to some online looky loo. Got some really cool looking panoramics.

    Cheers.
