listening to it right now, and nothing i've heard can quite touch it for intimacy between band and crowd. the vibe in there that night would be pretty hard to match, but it still is the one show from the last few years that gets the most play for me

Great show. It's one of the only shows that never gets rotated out of my iPod. That one and Benaroya.

There is no doubt The Vic show will go unmatched for some time. MSG 1 made me realize how great the Cinci show was though. I'm pretty sure the crowd surprised the hell out of them - you could just see them feed off of the energy of the crowd that night, much like the way MSG 1 did during the first encore/2nd set if you will. Except down in the dirty Nnati it rocked from minute one of the show until well after the lights came on.

  • Crowd has no influence on what I think of a boot. It's like male grunting in porn. Yea, it's sometimes inevitable because what is going on is that good and yes, the recipients may in fact love the response, but as a third-party I want to hear from the person that I downloaded it for.

Is there a top sound quality Vic recording floating around? Believe it or not, I haven't put the effort into looking ...

You know why the intimacy factor is high? Cos of the size of the venue. It's what happens when there's a show at a small theatre.

I'm sure it'd be even higher if we got some boots from the private shows they've done, when they played at someone's house or something. And then you have the Argentines and Italians (esp Milan) who are just loud beyond words.

How the crowd is allowed to come through on a boot has a big influence on how I think of the boot. Milan 06 is an incredible boot because the crowd humbled PJ. Then there are shows from earlier years when the crowd sound wasn't engineered into the boot. Those boots don't have as much of a sparkle. What you think about the crowd I think about the setlist. I'm just into the conversation between bandmembers and crowd; verbal and musical.

...which is more to my point. The crowd influencing the band's energy/performance and the dialogue created due to high energy.

Mine is not all that clean, I would like to see them sell a clean copy of the show - I would certainly buy it.

Although that was a great show, I still think the 2005 Gorge was one of the best shows they've ever played.
