Kelly: Well, we had around a thousand ten club whiners think there was going to be a free show at the HOB in Boston, how can we possibly top that in Chicago?
Ed: I know a sweet rooftop next to Wrigley... lets get a camera crew, a few guitars... the Even Bros will shit themselves
On FB the other day someone posted a letter from the Alderman saying what time sound check needed to be completed by. Did anyone read it and know what time? Thinking we are going to head out.
Definately the band should give the fans 2-3 songs
Or like an announcement that there won't be any music
Or maybe they don't owe anyone anything. This is like looking at a family eating dinner inside their house and being upset you aren't offered any. It wasn't announced, it wasn't advertised, it wasn't remotely teased. People stumbled upon it and figured out something was going on. That doesn't entitle anyone to anything.
They didnt and couldnt play any songs for those of us waiting because they had no real amps. Whatever they were filming was pumped through tiny practice amps. Its not like they could plug in and play. Nothing to plug into.

So no actual songs were played audibly?
Still cool, but explains why I couldn't find a setlist, haha

Didn't I just see you in the merch thread suggesting they switch the limit from two posters to one so everyone could get one?
I suggested that so more people could get one, yes. I never said everyone was entitled to one. Nice try though!
And I suggested that the band drop a line on social media saying there wasn't going to be a performance so the 1500 people waiting in person and the thousands waiting on line for them to play could get on with their life. I never said we were entitled to anything like you did.

The difference is that you're asking for the band to comment on something that is unfortunately none of your business. Just because people decide to loiter doesn't mean the band is now obligated to say anything. It's a private thing. You can get on with your life at any point. They don't need to explain every little thing they're doing.
You guys realize you're spending your Friday night bickering on a message board, right?
Is it bad, I'm spending it reading the bickering? At least I'm having a beer while doing so.
I am lost, I'm no guide, but I'm by your side

Late last night ended up talking to the head of security at Murphy's. He couldn't confirm the purpose of the shoot, but he said the sound was better across the street under the El tracks. It wasnt loud, but too many people were talking while waiting for what they thought was a louder show. They did some proper sound check stuff and all the guitar gear cases were tucked away in Murphys.
The rooftop area where they played was just that, a rooftop. It's not a built-out patio or anything, so they had to keep it simple.
Reading through this thread is like watching an M Night Shyamalan movie. Good build up, major disappointment
