How does vinyl get warped?

Dumb question I m sure. Just bought into the wild brand new on vinyl and it s just so unbalanced. Up and down...up and down. Why does some vinyl get like this?
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

    The way it's stored, heat - probably the top 2 reasons.
    2000 - 8/21 - Columbus, OH

    Pressing problem it sounds like. I'd return it for another copy.

    Yes, poor storage and delivery.

    Did you get it from Amazon? (Pressed by Music on vinyl)

    I have a bunch of the MOV reissue stuff and the 150 gram and higher reissues are fucking amazing. Good presses. MLB, TOTD, Live, etc,. all amazing.

    Heat: prolonged heat? Days, weeks, years?
    I bought it on eBay from a big record store that I ve had many positive transactions from. I ll definitely be asking for a return. I mean it plays fine but man it s tough to look at.
    And don't stack records when storing them? (I m a rookie, don't yell at me! Lol)

    If it doesn't affect playing though? Hmmm...I have a few records that have warp but play fine. Then there are some that are so bad they skip, like my Riot Act LP #1.

    Minor warping is fine, especially if playback is not affected.
    Now if it looks like your stylus is in the middle of the sea during a storm, then I would go ahead and ask for a replacement, even if the needle somehow still tracks the grooves without it affecting playback.
    And so you see, I have come to doubt

    by the way, i just received vault 3 in the mail and it is not warped and god does it sound beautiful!!! (thank you judd!!!)

    If it was pressed where I think it was, it probably sat in the sun on a pallet in the parking lot of the pressing plant. If you want to send it to me I can flatten it for you.
