"Record Breaking" Fenway performances?

mikerlmikerl Posts: 580
The 10c newsletter spoke of the record breaking performances. Which record(s) were broken? Capacity? Sell out time? The amount of goddamn merch we bought?

Just curious... Place was packed.. Could be attendance record.

People seriously thought they couldn't sell out Fenway. They couldn't have been more wrong.

It was one of the main arguments against the Fenway shows ever happening. We talked about the these shows potentially happening for years and there would invariably be someone trying to argue they couldn't sell Fenway out.

when you have people hating on you on blabbermouth, rolling stone, spin, and all other music sites that mention them you definitely have gotten somewhere ha

The funniest thing were the fools on the boards thinking they wouldn't sell out the Monday show at Wrigley. 11 minutes later and both shows were gone

And when they start playing stadiums (football) people will say those won't sell out either and they'll be wrong (again). I know, I know we don't want them to play play football stadiums, but it seems inevitable at this point. Plus, the fan club tix will still be fairly close and most likely there will be more of them.

I honestly didn't think they could sell out both shows. I couldn't have been more wrong.

Problem is, I truly believe they could do this EVERY YEAR for the next 4-5 years. IF they did 4 to 10ish stadium shows a summer they would all sell out. Safeco field in Seattle, Nationals park in DC, Wrigley, Fenway, Yankee Stadium and Mets stadium, any of the MLB stadiums would sell out....Easily

If they were doing more stadium shows, I am not certain they'd all sell out. Wrigley/Fenway are two great summer destinations. Anyone west of Illinois did not have much chance to go to a show in 2016. Throw 'em in at Safeco, Dodger, NYC, and a couple of others, it may temper the travel.

Yep not surprising, they are literally one of the hottest tickets in music at this point.

Met Life stadium in NJ holds 82k. Figure you lose some seats because of the stage but gain some because of the field, so call it a wash. If they ever play there I say they would easily sell two nights.
  • Gosh I hope they don't do football stadiums in America, so many other awesome venues. And yes while both of these shows were sold out and I love that I can brag about pj breaking records, there certainly was no lack of available tickets before both shows I wonder how they count attendance. Is it by tickets sold or are going by tickets scanned at the gates? Guess it doesn't really matter, I'm just curious

im in agreeance with the fact that if they did more than these two iconic stadiums they would not sell the shows out...PJ is good at one thing and this is timing and limiting over exposure..i think they learned their lesson with an over extensive tour a few years ago that left some shows with some empty seats
  • Why not Stadiums in Seattle,Dodger Stadium,Yankee Stadium,etc? A baseball stadium tour?

If they all have the sound quality of Fenway, I don't see why the heck not. The only downer about stadiums is the weather risk but if the choice is a stadium tour or nothing, it's a no brainer.
