A fun (and expensive!) fact about Fenway & curfews

So as Fenway 2 kept being the magical mystery tour it turned out to be, as the clock got closer to 10:30 I asked the security guard in front of me "How strict is the 10:30 curfew here?" He looked at his watch, it was 10:25, and he said "Only 1 more song, I'm sure of it. Every single minute over curfew costs the band $10,000." That was just as they were going into Alive. So another almost 15 min later and it ended, and I said "I guess the music took over!" and security guard said "Yeah, but that was $150,000 worth of music!"

No idea if the curfew really is that strict, although since it was sold out I'm sure that extra oomph didn't break anybody's bank ;) Just thought it was interesting that that policy may be the only way they keep bands from jamming 20 or 40 or 120 minutes later than curfew...

    I was told the curfew was actually 11:00 and it was $10k a minute after that. The 10:30 is a neighborhood guideline / hope.

    Wait, so we got cheated out of a full 3 1/2 hour show??? :) But that makes sense, and I'm glad they didn't have to really pay $150,000 for those encores (although it did make me feel even that much more "Right on PJ! Fees be damned!" as they kept playing past 10:30)
