Nothingman At Fenway 2: Disappointed Or Relieved?

When Nothingman started up on Night 2 at Fenway were you disappointed or relieved? Were you really hoping for Vitalogy front to back or were you more interested in a varied setlist where each song was a surprise?

Yeah, to be honest, it didn't even cross my mind. Nothingman was a song that I really, really wanted and I was pretty psyched to get it during a beautiful sunset.

Vitalogy is my favorite album ever but I didn't see it happening. NAIS into Nothingman was fantastic and did not bum me out.

I never thought it would happen until sometime during Friday's show when we realized how little Vitalogy they were playing. So it was in the back of my mind all day Saturday and Sunday. I was 50/50 on it. It would have been cool to see but I prefer an anything goes kinda setlist. I found myself relieved when Nothingman started.

  • Ecstatic! Out of 11 shows spanning 18 years, I'd never heard Nothingman live. I was a little bummed they didn't play it Night 1. Then with NAIS being one of my favorite songs only to be followed by Nothingman, it was incredible. I'm on the fence about a full album as I kind of like the randomness and not knowing what comes next. But I'd of course take a full album as well and love it!

I guess I am in the minority on this one. Within 2 seconds of Nothingman starting I leaned over to my buddy and said "well we aren't getting Vitalogy." I got over it quickly and enjoyed a great show. In retrospect was glad they didn't play it in full. But for 5 seconds, yes I was disappointed.

I am one of the few disappointed. I have seen lots of great things from this band but have never been on hand for an album. I rue the day I lost the Moline lotto and decided not to make the trip.

I think I was mildly disappointed at the exact moment it was played but as the night went on it never crossed my mind again and looking back I would not trade this set for a full album if I had the chance.
