I wasn't at either show, so I'm not biased toward one or the other. Most people in attendance seem to agree that night 2 was "better", "perfect", "epic", "magical"... etc.
I have no doubt that people are right, but what made night 2 better? Was it band energy, crowd energy, show length, setlist flow, NAIS at sunset, Angel, or a combination of the aforementioned?
The set list from night 1 looked more interesting to me: Release, Long Road, Strangest Tribe, All Those Yesterdays, Draw The Line, I've Got A Feeling, Masters Of War, Patriot, Society
Unreal last night... I'm speechless... This band is just an incredible group of musicians more importantly human beings! They felt everything we felt over the 6 hours and 5 minutes they were on the Fenway stage this weekend! Truly amazing... the greatest live band in the world played one of their greatest shows last night ... as Eddie would say... thank you thank you thank you

Night 1 was a much more interesting setlist, but it didn't flow all that well. It was an amazing show, but overall might not crack my top 5 for various reasons.
Night 2 was amazing to witness in person. Hartford '13 & Philly 2 earlier this year are the only other times I've seen something that special. It was a perfect combination of a great setlist, the band in great spirits & playing their asses off and a great high energy crowd (at least from what I could see)
Fenway 2 is probably a toss up for my favorite show ever with Hartford '13.
Off He Goes--->NAIS--->Nothingman during sunset was magical
YES!
I was waiting quite a while for a slow set to start things off. I almost got that in Cincinnati, but they only did about three slow songs. The half-hour was magical.
Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"

I didn't go to N1 but I am compelled to point out that they ALSO played Draw The Line on N2, WITH Tom Hamilton (Bassist for Aerosmith, thanks Google!). More than that though, you've listed 5/8 covers played N1 as what make N1's setlist interesting to you. I did attend N2, so there certainly might be some bias in my opinion, but frankly I think that they overdid it a bit with the covers on N1. I do enjoy when they do covers, and I watched Masters of War on periscope - fucking amazing - but it just seemed like about twice as many covers as there needed to be in one show, particularly a show at a venue with a hard curfew.

Valid points. I guess the setlist for night 1, at least on paper, has more WOW factor for me. Out of those in attendance, who was honestly expecting to hear "I Got A Feeling" or "Draw The Line" before each was played? Throw in "Strangest Tribe" and "Society" with lots of Pearl Jam favorites, and it LOOKS like an exciting night to me.
Night 2 looks exciting also. I mean, "Off He Goes" and "Nothing As It Seems" in the 2 and 3 spots... come on! "Angel", "Immortality", and "In Hiding" were nice touches."Yellow Moon" is a personal favorite of mine, so I dug that one also.
Both looked great, but my jaw hit the floor looking at the first night's setlist. Night 2 didn't hit me quite as hard. That being said, a set list doesn't necessarily make a show. I'm also inclined to believe those in attendance, so thanks for responding.

I hear you. Strangest Tribe and All those Yesterdays (AND that version of Masters of War - tho I wouldn't have said that if I hadn't heard it) make N1 sort of scream off the page at you. N2 was great, with Angel "for the serious collector" and some seriously great songs.

Fenway is the first time that I've ever attended a two night run and cannot decide which night I liked more- and that's a good thing!

I hear ya there. All yesterday I was thinking about how great Sunday was, and then I would think back to Friday or look at the Friday setlist and realize that was a pretty great night too. Just have to get the boots and then can relive each night over and over.
I'll say this, it was probably the most fun I've ever had at a concert in my life. We went in fairly early Friday night due to the rumor, and Sunday, we didn't head into until 6:45 or so. I don't know if it was just being in the park/on the field of my favorite ball park, or the group I was with, or a combo of everything. But we danced and laughed and screamed for 3+ hours. I need this to be an annual summer event.
