Well it only took a couple of days but the Ten Club got me. I had 3 Ed vids up on youtube for a couple of days then the Big Bad Ten Club came and blocked them. I'll never quite understand this. A band that is supposed to be "fan friendly" makes such a big deal about this. I guess i shouldn't include the band in this really Eddie and his camp. I don't see what the big deal is its not like i was front row video taping i was in the balcony row LL. The videos turned out ok nothing great. I totally get the whole we want to put out an offical DVD/CD of the shows, i get that. Me personally i was just trying to get a small document of what i saw. Also trying to share with fans who could not get to these shows a little piece of what we were all fortunate to see. I'm sure if Ed decides to put out an offical DVD we will all go out and buy it regardless of my crappy videos from the balcony, I know I will. It's a little hypocritical of the Eddie, you can go to PJ shows tape, video, pictures what ever you want and Eddie is so uptight about these solo shows. I will always go back to a quote by Jerry Garcia: "Once we play the music we are done with it, the fans can do whatever they want with it" Granted i'm a spoiled deadhead who has had access to music for years by the generousity of the band. Excuse my ramblings i'm just a little upset. I respect Ed and the band, i have been with them from the begining. They have gotten me through many tough times growing up. And i will continue see them for as long as they will continue i just wish they werent so strict on this issue. Alright rant over, my point since i can't put up my vids on youtube if anyone is interested in about 40 minutes of Ed from DC i would be glad to get this out to the fans. Just a little something to hold us over till the offical release comes out. If anyone is interested let me know. PM me or if you are scared the Ten Club might get you feel free to email me privately. Sorry for the longwinded rant. Thanks for everyones time.

  • Well my ticket said "No cameras", not sure about yours. Not trying to flame you, I'd actually like to see your footage, but I really like the no camera's policy for a number of reasons.

I don't understand people who go to a concert and instead of experiencing it, they are worried the whole time about getting a good shot. Cell phone cameras are the new bic lighters at concerts, but except for the one power ballad, they're lighting up the venue the entire concert. Do you know how annoying it is sitting behind someone who is raising their camera the entire concert trying to get video footage?

  • I understand the no cameras thing because I'm sure they just don't want a million flashes going off in Ed's face the whole show. If they put "no camera flashes" on the tickets, there's no way people would listen and there would be pictures taken all over the place.

It sucks, but that's the way it is and it's easy to understand. No offense to you, as I'd love to see some live footage since I was at DC1.

I did see the no cameras on the ticket but do you realize how many tickets, venues, websites etc, that say that and you get to the show and its a free for all. I did not take any pictures at these shows because i hate the distraction it causes. When i do take pics its never with a flash. And when i take videos i never obstruct anyone elses view. I realize there are other people there and i will never infringe on others concert experience. The first night i was in the last row on the floor and the second night i was in the balcony row LL which was the second tier first row my camera is never in anyone elses view. I went to two west coast shows and i was very respectful of the no camera policy and i kick myself now cause i was 4th row and 8th row and security was a joke. The main reason i wanted to tape in DC was becaue i missed out in CA. I knew what to expect show wise, Eddie didnt change the setlists too much on the east coast. I just dont get the strictness of this. Eddie was fantastic at these shows you would think he wouldnt mind people enjoying these performances. It's not like i'm trying to sell this, i'm just trying to pass on the joy that i experianced to others.

I can understand that really I can but that is up to Ed what he wants out there right. Out of all respect when something is taped when asked not to. You should get the persons approval before making it public. I think that would be what I do. Show the ten club and have them ask Ed if it was ok. Then you know you did the right thing. By showing respect. This is from the person in me but as a fan man I want to see it LOL lOL. And it is great you want to share but out of respect you shouldn't. Just my thoughts

  • Well, let's look at this in a positive light - maybe since they made YouTube take your videos down that it means they're going to put out an official DVD of the tour. Keep hoping.

You can experience the concert but also film a few favorite songs...I did w/out disturbing anyone (basically shielded the vid screen from others, security) and I've already burned 'em onto a DVD for my own personal memories. I'm not convinced any official DVD is forthcoming considering how bitter Ed seemed at times about some shows and for the same reason I don't know if Ed will play solo again any time soon. So, I have a few personal keepsakes from a rare experience...Rise, Blackbird, and Hard Sun.

Please don't PM...I shot these for me only. Took a few photos too...if you can't figure out how to turn the flash OFF (or are to drunk to care), you shouldn't own a camera.

The anti-camera thing may have been the general policy, but at my show security was letting cameras in, but telling folks to keep the flash OFF.

Agreed..mine aren't going to YT or anywhere else. Its great to see what people filmed, but its somewhat a privacy thing for ED. That said...there seems to be TONS of PJ stuff on YT...including Ed's solo openers, etc. I'm a little puzzled about this recent approach, especially when several that have popped up are great performances w/out the loudmouths being heard...

I'll think positive...just a little doubtfull. I guess there were cameras at some shows...at others I did not hear of any.

what part on a no camera policy do people not understand.
it has been widely talked about on here from both east and west coast tours, and it is pretty well known that the 10c are getting the vids and pics taken down!
while i know there are some great vids and pics floating, you just have to be a little bit more creative in getting them out there, and advertising the fact on here that you have them is a sure fire way to get them deleted pretty quickly

  • I really think the no camera thing in the eyes of Eddie was so that he is not in the spotlight without the rest of the band.I would think that he is ok showcasing his band instead of being in the spotlight and advertised worldwide as just himself...Eddie has been that way since the day the band was formed, its about the band and not about him which i respect 100%.

    Just my opinion.

I thought the same thing...the posts like "check Ed out on Youtube" made me wonder what the hell the person is thinking...maybe some want them to go "poof" and dissappear?

Good point...although again there are tons of YT vids with just Ed doing his openers...are those really any different?? No one else there but him on those...

I take a couple of pictures over two hours of being at a concert, i'm quick about it... but when someone holds up there camera for a whole song it annoys the fuck out of me. The fooeys concert at the Sydney Opera House for me was the worst display I saw of this. I was pretty far back. So i saw a shitload of camera phone lights. It as i said annoys me. I saw Damien Rice in concert, the night before i saw him he played a tune facing away from the crowd because he too is fed up with people looking thru their phone or camera at concerts.

Experience the show, don't look through the lense....

I've actually tapped people on the shoulder and asked them what the fuck they were doing who were filming with their camera in my view. Same goes for those wankers who put people on their shoulders... fuck off with your selfishness! heh Especially when three friends in front of your put their girlfriends on their shoulders at once... Do you think the people behind you think you are cool? or do you think they want to kick your arse? :p

The band has NEVER ALLOWED video taping of ANY kind, PJ show or otherwise. Not really a surprise there. As for taping, and shooting vids people have always and will always do it, and you just shouldnt go to YT or anywhere else PUBLIC to share it. I am ALL FOR THAT, dont get me wrong, but this is nothing new and you shouldnt be upset...This is the NORM. imho

  • i always thought that policy was partly because part of the set isn't all his own material, and partly because the stuff that he DID write all of is under some kind of copyright thing because it's for a soundtrack. i dont know how copyrights work but i thought that had something to do with it :)

Not sure what concerts you're going to but who sits at a rock show?

Granted the Eddie shows were not the typical concert so I could understand why we sat but I have no problem with people trying to snap that photo. It was a unique experience so I cannot fault those people who brought their camera.

What I do have a problem with are the assholes who kept shouting requests as if Eddie was some lounge singer on a Carnival cruise ship.

Ed didn't want people to take photos or videos. END OF STORY. It doesn't matter WHY he wanted it this way. The thing is he didn't want it. Some things just are and do not need any justification.

This has nothing to do with free speech, etc., etc., or the 10 club censoring anyone.

Ed made a rule for his shows and good god, he thought maybe his fans might respect his wishes...however, with the yelling and taunting, I guess what he wanted didn't even matter in the end.

Respect the artist, people. No photos means no photos, no video means no video. Is it THAT hard to understand?

great post, and I agree. This entitlement that some fans have towards doing whatever they want regardless of what Eddie and the band wants is beyond me. If you respect the band, respect their wishes!!!
  • Frankly, I don't understand how someone can know there is a no camera policy, continue to take videos and post them and then be surprised when they are taken down. Some things aren't to be understood....some things are just to be done...if nothing else out of respect to the artist, the fan club or whoever the hell developed the policy...it was done for a reason

i don't get how my video, taped at the vic on my point-and-shoot camera, was taken down after being up for a year.

it was the cubbies song, but come on! there was NO camera policy that I knew of that said I can't post clips. strangely enough, they only shut down the one video...
