    I still use the old userscripts that someone made the last time the upgraded the forum.. they still mostly work :)

    Hey 10C, yes, please bring back lights down, but the white type on black wasn't that eye-friendly either (at least not to me), too much contrast. Consider a dark grey background instead of black?

    And, no, the rest of the internet does not have this much white space; it's mostly photos and blanketed in type.

    I use the one that's white and grey. It still works pretty good. The darker one and the classic theme weren't working, but today I tried them for kicks, and they work better after today's update.

    I vote yes to lights down as a choice as well. Then those who like the white background can keep it. Black background is a lot easier to read late at night!

    From a comfort stand point, it's a good idea for pure white or black sites to offer a toggle. The forum had this. The style information is still there, even--it's just the switch that's missing.

    Here's a news flash - you're wrong. Word-heavy sites are predominantly served on coloured or grey backgrounds these days, to reduce eye strain. Even Apple, the company so associated with minimal imagery and verbiage printed on white backgrounds - print their longer product descriptions on off-white, grey, or pastel coloured backgrounds.

    I don't find it hard on the eyes at all, though I never used the lights down before, so this isn't much of a change for me. But anyway, it should be an option for those who want it. Couldn't be that hard.

    yah all bright white is pretty rare.. usually there's off white or grey to make it easier on the eyes. I always preferred black background with white writing, but that's me. Super bright white is hard on my eyes... light grey goes a long way... I can't think of too many forums I participate in that are bright white only.

    I find that if you just resize the screen a bit, most of the white around the posts can be hidden anyway. I suppose if someone insists on using the full screen it might be a little bright for some, but the text is still on a nice grey.
