Doesn't surprise me either and I live in Minnesota, a state with one of the highest voter turnouts in the nation.

And I bet 90% that bitch and moan about the nominee did not vote.
  • Will be interesting for sure to see how 9% of America voted for Trump and the other 91% couldn't stop him.

Shaming people for not voting during the primary elections is bogus.

When it was time for WA state's primary election. The only Republican still running was Trump. And the only 2 Dems running were Clinton and Sanders.

I wasn't going to waste a stamp on an election that was already decided, so I didn't vote.

Are you going to do anything on election day?

Is that all that was on your ballot up in WA? No state issues, nothing else?

Nothing else on the primary ballot.

A ballot with other state issues arrived this past week.

Interesting. I live in WA from around '90 to '94 and don't remember ballots being that way. Must be all that paper they like to use up there!

Only 9% ... and you vote for your party leaders. So how'd did these two knuckleheads get the nod. I still think a trump presidency would be a hoot...

Haha! I love George. And what he says is hard to argue against. I vote anyway because I can and because I like to throw my 2 cents out there even if it probably doesn't mean a hill of beans.

Thankfully I got lucky and was born north of the border in the great white north ... as bad as politics are here ... these 2 knuckleheads likely never rise to party leadership in Canada...that's why I think it'd be a hoot.

Nice use of past and present tense in the same sentence. Future tense too?

I never have high expectations for what my vote will do, never. But I do see it as a nudge in the right direction and voting is such a simple thing to do, especially because I vote absentee and in the mail it goes with whatever else I'm mailing. It seems hugely cynical to me when others try to tell me I'm wasting my time and money when it's so little time, so little money to give a little nudge and at the least, have to opportunity to put in my two cents worth. And of course, there are many, many other things we can do to make a difference in our world.

Or are we all screwed anyway and we should just go pound sand and to hell with it all? How cynical do we want to get here?

    Nahhhh!

Well, in our last two federal elections I (and many others) voted for the Green Party candidate in our riding. She won both times and became the first Green Party member federally elected. In her time in office she has been widely recognized as a productive and hardworking MP who is generally respected. She is bringing a whole range of issues to greater public attention, as well as raising the profile of the Green Party. And that's not insignificant, in my view.
