Could someone please shed some light on where Pearl Jam posters come from? i.e.- Who designs/makes them? Are there counterfits? How do you know the difference? I appreciate any help. Thanks.

That is like asking, "Mommy, where do babies come from?"

There are a bunch of regular artists that PJ goes to for concert posters. The majority of PJ posters are by Ames Bros. Other "regulars" include Brad Klausen, Emek, Munk One, Jeff Soto, Tyler Stout, and recently Don Pendleton. There are a lot of other artists who have done posters over the years, but those are currently the most typical.
I've been collecting since 2003, and have not come across any counterfeits myself in person, but I have seen them on eBay for sure, the dead giveaway is posters that are Buy It Now for under $20.00 that ship from China. Post-2014 posters come with holograms on the back, but I'm sure those could be replicated too. The main thing is, like anything else, pass on it if is too good to be true. A low price may also mean that the poster is not in "good/very good" condition, so you should definitely inquire as to condition if that means something to you.
Also, like @tempo_n_groove suggested, sign up for an account at expressobeans.com (aka "ebeans"). It is a forum for poster collectors and has a good price tracker (its not always updated so you also have to do your own due diligence). I think that covers your questions, but there's a ton of people on here who know their stuff so just ask!
Can't decide if I/m excited for the OP or if I want to cry for him. Once bitten by the poster bug you'll never stop collecting them whether it's just the shows you go to or anything/everything you like. A mighty slippery slope indeed...
Should we tell him what it costs to properly frame them up...?

I agree with caught -a-bolt-of-lightning, once your bitten your hooked for life. I once didn't care for posters at shows( was at msg in 2010 & Pittsburgh in 2013) and walked right passed the merch tent. Now, I've waited hours in that same merch tent line at shows.
Thanks for the help everybody. I appreciate it. I do realize that it is expensive and probably addictive. I'm not a real artsy kind of guy but I do love album art and for me the posters are an extension of that. That's what is so cool about it to me. Fortunately, I can make my own frames and cut the matting and everything so I will save on framing costs.

Cool. You want to buy some of my posters, lol.
And that's the next thing to come to the OP's inbox......dozens of messages from people wanting to help with the new collection and trying to unload their unwanted mystery box posters!

No, no. Good ones. FLL, Greenville, Miami, Tampa. All good posters.
Sorry man. I used to do frames for other people but it turned too much into work so I only do it for myself now. Also, shipping them is a pain in the arse.

You've got a lot of homework to do!!!
So the more you see the posters the more you'll get a feel for them.
Go to exspressobeans and sign up. Tons of info on there.
Go to eBay and look at " Pearl jam poster" and get more of a pulse on things.
All different artists make the show posters.
Since the Global Citizens Festival there has been a hologram sticker put on the backs of the posters.
As far as counterfeits I personally haven't seen one offers for sale yet, not that they don't exist.
Ask more questions. There's a ton of knowledgeable people on these boards!
