A couple of articles linked here for those of you who are Horror genre fanatics, but here are a few highlights of the 2016 Republican Platform:

-A focus on repealing environmental laws
-Refers to coal as a “clean” energy source.
-Reject both the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreements.
-Openly opposes marriage for gay and transgender people.
-Appoint anti-LGBT, anti-choice, and anti-Obamacare supreme court justices.
-Affirms Trumps plan to build The Wall.
-Retrograde positions that include making no exceptions for rape or women’s health in cases of abortion.
-Tax cuts for the rich.
-Loosen gun control laws.
-Requires the Bible be taught in public high schools.
-Demanding a return of federal lands to the states.
-Insisting that legislators use religion as a guide in lawmaking.

Do we really want this kind of regression?
(fixed)

you forgot that porn is a health crisis, but guns and global warming are all kosher.

Yes, that too! And I'm sorry to say there are more horrors on the agenda.

Basically we are looking at an agenda that is (among other things) anti-environment, anti-women, anti-freedom of religion and geared to serve the rich the last of a crumbling nation on a gold platter.

There is no reason to have strict coal burning laws. The EPA and Obama has made it more and more expensive to burn coal. Coal fired power plants are doing their part in reducing emissions. But Obama and the EPA have been making it exceedingly more difficult for companies to keep their prices down.

I will be the first one to admit that there is no such thing as clean coal. But there is no other way of efficiently producing power. Unless you want a nuclear power plant in your back yard. Solar and wind farms are not efficient at all. Plus, they do not supply enough power to light a large city. They are good supplemental sources.

I have, over the last 7 years, began to not only listen, but embrace many of Obamas policies. But the war on coal he has brought on to the industry is not helping anyone. It's costing more jobs than the green jobs can make up. Now, im certainly not going to vote for the Donald because of his stance on coal, even though that one stance directly effects my livelihood. But I would encourage thise who think burning coal is Satan's work to research what the coal fired plants are doing to reduce their carbon footprint. You may be surprised to find that it isn't as dirty as you think it is.

Then you might want to do some research so you're not giving kudos on a subject with which you are not well versed.

Most important sentence in the NYT article: "Platforms are traditionally written by and for the party faithful and largely ignored by everyone else. "
