  • the new song was pretty great. prob top 5 of the nite. melodic, quicker than standard tempo. sounded pretty close to done.

Masters was tight. The Rise/Millworker duo might have been the strong point of the nite. Rise is a song that only gains momentum (surprisingly no mention of stand up to cancer). Goodbye was fresh.

good nite one, had some momentum in spots. about 2:45 overall with a lot of talking, stories, etc. only misstepped when saying he wasn't sure about the dc football team's name (Redskins). that got no response from the crowd. at least he didn't say he didn't like it, that would've gotten ugly. Ed should know that the Redskins are a name of pride, a positive, and a DC institution.

Solid nite one, sets up a killer nite 2

Show was great- the audience was very bad, no one could shut up, I heard the two drunk guys behind me singing more than Eddie.
    -
By the way- they were filming the show, Hope they film tomorrow, no way there can be worse people there than tonight.

Oh, interesting. I assumed when it was an untitled new song that it would be one of those city-specific songs; fun for the moment, but not having much of a future. This new song is similar to Unknown Thought; for lack of a better term, an actual new song that may have a future as Ed solo or PJ?

    YEEEEEEEEH high five!
  • yea it wasn't a city specific little effort. it reminded me a lot more of hearing "gone" that first time live via cell phone @ borgota. this one seemed like it had some space for sound behind it. hopefully he plays it again tomorrow

Did we miss Arc on the setlist?
  • Show was amazing minus the fans yelling all night. I had orchestra row y going into the show, but once i got to me seat i realized it was taped off...so one of the women that works for EV tells me "sir, they are recording this show and dont want to want your curly hair in the way. So here is your new seat." And the ticket she handed me was in orch row f'n G seat 2 right in the aisle. yall might of seen me in the Rush 08 tour shirt. ne way im tired and have been up for 30 straight hours.

I'll do a little review here from some highlights/lowlights.

    I'll start with the LOW:

People taking pictures most of the night... jesus christ, the security guards were running back and forth all night. If you are more than 10 feet from the stage, a FLASH DOES NOTHING... assholes.

Those 5 or 6 people (couple guys, 1 or 2 women) fucking SCREAMING the whole night. Ed stopped about 4 times to tell them to shut the fuck up. Once told them it was his time to talk, not theirs, 2nd time he said he was starting to get pissed off, 3rd time he called them children while he was telling one of the kids stories, by the 4th he said they were starting to mess up his "creative juices" or however he put it

People getting up about, oh, 20 times in an hour to buy 11 beers then piss 2 or 3 times... ASSHOLES

Now that that is out of the way....

    The highlights:

Walking the Cow, crazy Lukin, Parting Ways

The new song Ed said he wrote 2 nights ago at 5 am.. (if i remember correctly) Good song. Only lyrics I remember were something like "brain is wide, brain is open" or something... His little story was it was about having great thoughts but by the time you speak them they go through a bunch of filters and come out all wrong from your mouth...

    Hard Sun was cool

and ARC... WOW... just wow, when he had his voice looped about 5 or 6 times and just let it play.... sounded so amazing.

Guy with the GW mask. Sat row i seat 103... had it on his head in the beginning then when Ed started talking about Bush he took his opening and quickly walked up to the stage and tossed it on... Ed was like... wha?... then picked it up and was like...oh ohhhhhhh... lol

I hope the film crew was there to put out a DVD or something, I want it

Oh, and when Ed got tired of the one guy up front with his arms up the whole night. He went and got a handful of picks to bribe him to give it a rest... when he walked over and looked into the crowd he goes..."dude is gone... all damn night his arms are up and now he's about to get something and he's gone" Lucky lady behind his seat got them all for putting up with it all night.

This was my first east coast show after going to 6 out west. Out of those 7, this crowd was twice as bad as the worst there. Hands down. Seriously, I know we see this after every show, but tonight, was the worst. It really took away from the show.

Honestly, after awhile, I think it kinda overtook the show. It was a issue between every song, if Ed said anything about it or not. Someone would yell something. Ten people would tell that one to shut up. If nobody said anything for a couple seconds.... everyone was just wondering how long it would be til we heard I LOVE YOU EDDIE!!!

All that said, was a good show. I REALLY liked the new song.

I really liked Ed's expressions and gestures while listening to the song that kids' band recorded. He did the same thing at the Beacon. I never thought I'd ever that song again after hearing it that night ... lol.

But it was really cool seeing the actual kids who sang it and they had a big banner for Ed hanging from the first row of the balcony.

I totally agree with you. It was my 6th EV show. 3 East coast and 3 West Coast and DC's crowd was the worst by far. I really wish I could have seen this show with a different crowd, but despite it I had a really great time tonight. Ed told some great stories and had some really priceless lines.

Agree. About a dozen ASSHOLES in the place, yelling all sorts of songs they wanna hear, and Eddie was like "yeah, we're not going to be singing that tonight". I seriously thought Ed was going to walk off, he was getting pissed. And to the drunk jerk in C103, yelling "do old Uncle Neil a favor and play Harvest Moon" arguing with his wife/girlfriend, and taking photo's and videoing. Security came over three times, they should have thrown his ass out!

Folks, sit back, and let Ed jam. He tells you to sit down. We only stood up two or three times. He's gonna play the set he made up.

On the positive....my 10c tix were great.....row D (which was six rows back), the closest I've ever been, about 25 feet away. It was great. And the venue was great. I'm exhausted!

The show was awesome. It's my first solo show and I'm glad I'm going again tomorrow. I'll maybe have to comment in more detail sometime as I'm too tired right now but one thing that was unfortunate was the crowd at the show tonight. I've read about how these douchbags that feel the need to yell out shit all the time from the other shows but didn't know it could be that bad. Ed was really chatty and it's great listening to his stories and then someone has to yell out "play footsteps" or "go steelers". Really? Congrats you are an ass. It made me cringe everytime.

There were some really great moments though. Parting ways, and balckbird (and the story leading into it) were great. The kids song was cute. After it it Ed said something along the lines of "How can we follow that? We're fucked" Then he immediately checked himself and said "I mean we're going to be poopy on our seleves" or something to that effect. The wardrobe malfunction story was funny and then the re-reference later before blackbird when he said "go ahead and close your eyes cause there won't be anything worth watching up here" and then paused and checked that his pants were zipped up and said "yep we're good" It was hilarious.

And Arc. Holy shit. I've read about it and always hoped to hear it sometime. It may have been the greatest f'n thing I've heard at any concert. Truly an experience.

2nd night in Boston, he/they shut beer sales off at 9pm, probably to avoid people getting up and down all night.

Sounds like he should have been doing that everywhere.

oh my God, I missed Hard Sun :(

What an incredible show! I love his stories. He brought that family on stage. Ed seems so sweet! I just want to pinch his cute cheeks (facial not butt).

So glad it was recorded. Thank you Ed, for an amazing performance on our 11th wedding anniversary.

You rock and I hope you keep on forever and I felt so sorry for you b/c of whatever what "bugging" your faces/eyebrows. You need some anti inch cream for that mosquito bite.

to the fans if you are going tonight, take a sweatshirt and don't wear flip flops. I froze last night at the warner theater!

We live really far from there and I've got a private party to leave for at 11:00 a.m. today (with another favorite musician playing), so we left after he shook people's hands. Unfortunately, I was really tired. Missed Hard Sun :(

I sat in the same aisle as your brother, we talked for a second after the show. He was more than annoying, but I really don't think that was his mom, as they were extremely...um...close. It was gross.
