The NES games are very brutal and unforgiving. You used to be 'very good' at many of these games... but now I get annihilated for the most part.

    They are fun though.

Yeah, my timing for many of those games seems off. Perhaps I need to adjust my TV setting or something.

So can I tell you that my blood pressure is up after playing this!!!

I forgot how unresponsive the remotes are.

Still a lot of damn fun!!!

I found the NES Mini Classic pads to be much more stiff than the original controls. Maybe because theyre brand new.
It's not that. It's just like how I remembered playing. You press the damn jump button and Mario doesn't jump and instead he slides off into a hole and you die... Then you throw remote at wall. Pick up remote and repeat.

    This is so true
And even if the jump was a success you always had a goomba waiting in to make you die in case your landing was less than a hairstrand width away.
    I hate goombas.

My God in heaven I never realized how painful it is to play some of these... I was GOOD at Goblins too...

I can only imagine what I'll be able to do in Mike Tyson's punchout...

Is it your timing or was the game actually made like that? I remember saying, as well as others saying "the game cheats". Meaning that when you press the jump button the damn thing doesn't jump.

You definitely need to slow down whilst playing these.

There are def times where you press a button and nothing happens. That really makes you want to chuck the controller across the room! haha

I don't know for sure. I have my TV set to play it under the "game mode" setting. I use this on all of my systems whereby shutting off or bypassing the TVs processor and causing lag (PS3, PS4, Switch all work perfect).
There just seems to be a timing thing. Maybe...just maybe, that I'm so used to new games and their super-responsiveness to input and the NES was that way all along...haha
Gonna tinker around with the setting and see if that helps.

    PLEASE keep us updated.

I might actually bring over some other people to try this out...

I know the wireless controller that was bundled with mine has a huge lag... like game breaking.

Funny thing is that I'm using wireless now. I wonder if that is the lag?

I still think that the game was lagging back in the day.

I want someone to have an original NES and the NES mini side by side and play some Mario to see if there is any input difference.

Saw a vid on Youtube a while back where a guy did just that. I'll try to find it again.

You don't have to post it, but did the video show the two systems being exactly the same?

I use 8bitdo controllers for it... and they dont seem to lag. Excellent controllers. Pricey, but good quality. I have 2 I use for the NES Classic and my RetroPie/

I got a Nyko one with the NES and it was horribly laggy, and would even lose connection briefly which meant certain death in most games

Yeah. He liked the tactile response of the buttons a lot more on the Classic controller than the original, but stated the gameplay was pretty much the same. I still can't find the video.
