people protest against police actions..but..

i see alot of protest against police, when they kill someone for no reason,or they use more force they need..
thats great, people try to be against something is wrong..
but what about when cops get killed?why people arent so "sensitive"?
5 cops got killed from that person,,where is the protest againt violence to the people work to serve and protect citizens?
just a question,,that i guess .,.has no answer

dimi, there are a shitload of people who mourn the loss of officers, not just those in Dallas.

    All over.

Maybe you've missed some of the comments posted?

And this place is just a tiny sampling.

I am shocked at how many educated, intelligent people totally misunderstand what protest is in a fundamental way.
    I'm tired of explaining it...

Dimitris, here is the outdoor memorial in Dallas for the officers who were called. It was started spontaneously and has grown and grown.

I was very moved by this man's tribute. He is a retired army combat medic. He stood at attention in his dress uniform for 4 hours in the hot Texas sun.

    image

He said that he was ashamed that an army veteran had carried out the killings and as a veteran himself, he wanted to honor the officers.

People continue to visit the memorial site at all hours, to leave messages, flowers and other tributes. I saw a story on the news last night of a man who retired from the Dallas Police Dept. He got a tattoo on his arm of the the department's badge and instead of an ID number, it has the date that the officers were killed.

I live about 35 miles from Dallas and go there often. Many people here are grieving. What a terrible week it was.

Dimi, I fail to see a difference in exactly WHO gets killed but rather ANYONE gets killed. Why is one person more important than another? Life is life. There is a huge racial tension between police and black community here. Both are being killed, don't ask us to choose sides when all life is valued. this is sad all the way around.

Actually, we do have an impact on each other and therefore on society. Matters not if in a tiny way. Even setting aside the sharing of opinions, what about all of the fundraisers and organizations born here?

Maybe it's just a matter of perspective.

Who P, those photos are quite powerful, as are the sentiments behind them.

Free, mourning the loss of these five men isn't the same as not giving a shit about others whose lives have been taken. I get you holding on to that, but it's an incorrect assumption.

It's actually a simple answer. Accountability. There's no question that the justice system is going to do everything in their power to bring down anyone who assaults or murders a police officer, so there is nothing to protest. When a civilian is beaten or murdered or abused in any way by an officer, it often goes unpunished. Completely different scenarios.
  • I'm not sure what you get for television or news over there but when someone in the line of duty gets killed the show of support and grief is enormous. It is so endearing that it completely voids and erases all memory of the pos that did it.

    Very surprised you asked this.

Why would you protest that? People who intend on doing harm through illegal means don't give a shit about protest. Protest the government, police action or a corporation can be/is effective because the people your protesting have a vested interest to take note and listen to the protesters...which in my opinion very seldom works ...

All you can do is show support to those who have fallen in line of duty ... and people do in a big way.

the effects of Dallas were felt by all walks of life and shook a lot of us to our core that we in 2016 as a society have come to this...from police shooting civilians and vice versa...ptsd and mental health issues being ignored and underfunded for years (unless you were a pro athlete)...this goes deeper than black vs white, cop vs civilians, civilians vs cops... its a lack of compassion and value of life
