the song sounded great live :)

I just think it's great that Ed sings this song which I learned back when I was 18 and played rugby in college. It's a pretty popular rugby drinking song for college rugby teams. Back in the day I used to know like 15 verses to this song ... lol.

27 was a song ed wrote about santa cruz...he wrote the song instead of going surfing...nice song...about three verses...fairly long for a song written in a day or so.

The Vancouver Arc was so great and moving...and there was slight deviation into "the Wolf" as well...sort of like "Warc" or "Arcolf"...I was transfixed by every single note...and numb afterwards...

This gave me the chills it was so awesome. The whole show was just amazing and he really was funny. I didn't think it was a broken string that caused the break down on No Ceiling. Seemed like he got lost on the lyrics (followed by a comical grimace and "Fuck!").

It's hard to pinpoint a highlight. For me it just kept getting better and better. Played all the songs I really wanted to hear and put his heart into every one.

He said several times during the show how much he liked being in Santa Cruz and mentioned surfing more than once. One of the first things he said was coming from Vancouver to SC was "like the warmth that comes over you when you pee into a wetsuit, no offense". Also said they couldn't find a venue in Portland so they came here. "Now I like Portland, it's kinda like Seattle, only better some would say. Maybe they're right, but I'm really glad we ended up here."

The unnamed *Song for Santa Cruz* hit it out of the park for me.
Twenty years of paying astronomical rent in Santa Cruz, now seems totally worth it : )

Thanks so much, pj.uw.laura, for the extra ticket swap (4th row!) and being a great concert buddy. See you in Berkeley on Monday!

Another tidbit is that before Happy Birthday he said "This is for someone you may know, Someone who may be in the area". As he said that, he was scanning towards the back of the auditorium like he was looking for/at Mike. I was waiting for Mike to pop on stage and help with a song or two but he never did.

    Anybody spot him?

What a neat venue to see Ed in! He said, "It's like an arena, a huge sports arena, and I am a giant!" and went stomping around the stage for a bit. It really did look like a mini version of an arena shows, but instead of 200 rows, there was 20!

Ed was pretty dang on, cept that one flub, string or momentary lapse. I didn't really think he was gonna play all of Porch :-P Fun!!!

yeah he was baggin on room sevice as to how he had problems with eggs with tomato and cheese, but then he wanted oatmeal too, "and with tomato and cheese on that as well?" or something like that....

    Trouble was really, really nice.

The omelet thing... he said that the woman misunderstood him the first time he ordered and gave him the wrong ingredients and didn't understand that he wanted an egg white omelet. He tried again the second morning, and he said he wanted an omelet with tomato and cheese. She repeated his order and said "oatmeal" instead of omelet. He told her she misunderstood, and she laughed. He later wondered how she had such trouble with the egg white omelet on the first day but didn't seem to have a problem with oatmeal, tomato, and cheese. He thought about it multiple times throughout the day and laughed at himself each time he said "and then later, I was thinking about it again!"
  • The Santa Cruz song was great. I'm not even from Santa Cruz. But it had a line about hearing Neil Young on the radio (or stereo, I think), which got a big ovation

The "Meeting up in Santa Cruz" song was a huge highlight for me as well.....The words in the last verse were beautiful....about the water being his soul (something like that)....anyway, GREAT song....and again, I'M OPEN into MOTH??!! I am still freaking out over that....AND ARC!! Most beautiful version of Arc I have ever heard.....Eddie kicked our collective asses tonight and I, for one, am NOT complaining!!

    2 more nights to go....=)

for those waited for Ed last night.... he finally came out around 2:40 am. There were six of us left. He hung out for about ten minutes. Gave hugs, signed everything personalized to us. Told a couple of cool stories. Even slugged me in the shoulder. My first meeting with the guy. Very cool. Just as cool as that, was getting to meet a bunch of really great people.

They are pretty quick on the draw, but a simple Eddie Vedder solo will get you something.

There's a good 8 minute or so vid up there with Sing Out and Porch from Vancouver. Better get there fast though, as they are being taken down as quickly as they are being put up.

10club strikes again. Videos are down, copyright bullshit and such. I did manage to see 4 of the ones posted on Youtube. Thanks for the mention of it. Christ can't Eddie come to Toronto, Canada and do a solo tour? This sucks

Whoever posted on youtube, thanks so much for what you managed to film. One more thing, the chick who was beside, behind or wherever close to you sucked at singing Porch. Damn , keep your mouth shut next time. Please!

I presume Mike would have better things to do on his birthday night than travel to CA and attend a Vedder show. But even if he was there, I bet he could hide in the crowd. Sunglasses, colored hair, bandanna, beard, hat...there are all kinds of things superstars can do to be anonymous in public if the paparazzi aren't tracking them.

IWASTHERE....too!!! LOL. Sup man!! Wow, what a evening, one I'll never forget! It truly ranks up there high (maybe even numbero uno) in my PJ "experiences" for sure. It was great seeing you again bro and glad to see you haven't lost the passion. Classic to know that my MC drum skin that you won a couple years back was able to get you into a classic show..right on!

I Truly feel bad for those two girls and the father and son who pretty much waited the whole time with us to meet EV, except those last few and very important minutes.

Damn SOLAT319...a EV "show used" pick and a memory to last you a life time. A priceless night for you indeed!

And it was a pleasure meeting you too SkyWaterRiver (hopefully I remembered that correctly)! I'm glad you got to complete your EV weekend by getting the man the artwork you did for him at the end of the show and then the opportunity to discuss that artwork with him later on....oh AND the hug too!

    Peace,

    RM
