Michael's Framing (60% off)
I don't know if this is everywhere or not, but driving by my local Michaels (Royal Oak, MI), I saw they had 60% off on custom framing. I think usually the percentage off is lower.
Definitely getting posters framed there tomorrow if the sale is still on.

i have a bunch of posters, but have only been able to frame one b/c of the price.
asked for 'michael's' gift cards for my bday and xmas this year and only got one for 75 dollars. given my first framing, i'll still need to throw at least $50 extra to cover just one.
wish it all wasn't so expensive, but you do what you can do, right?
Beard's ended up being the least expensive. I've had 1 poster and 3 paintings done by them over the years, and they have always been good to me.
Heh I work at the downtown beards store part time . Do not go to Michaels with anything you care about. There is a great chance someone inexperienced will be putting their mits all over your print. You also have to question a company that discounts their brand that much.
Yeah I figured Michael's prices were inflated. It's a pretty smart way to get people to go there, hike up prices 40%, then discount 40% and then catch all the suckers that think they are getting a good deal
I just knew that 60% is a bigger discount than usual.
Maybe I'll look for some cheaper places before I get my posters framed. I have at least 5, so should be expensive!

Ditto...Michael's inflates their prices before those discounts. I have had the same quotes there with/without the discounts. When you do decide on a place always play the bargaining game. They will most likely go down in price if you walk in with a few posters.
i have a fantastic local framer who adore and bring all my posters for framing. i have done a lot of framing of my own photography in the past, so i know a good deal about it. however, for my posters, i don't use mats...so i need those spacer bars to keep the glass from touching the print, plus the museum glass...so i figure it really isn't much more to just let them do the frame job. and it isn't. we're all on a first name basis nowadays ...and they are always curious to see what poster i am bringing in. i am VERY pleased with the high qualtiy work AND the price. so give your local framer a shot!

it really is useless to quote prices if you don't specify what you are having done. is it just being framed? what kind of frame? is it also being matted? if so, single, double, triple mat? are you using archival backing board? museum glass? all this info is pertinent to knowing if it's a 'good deal' or not. that is about the 'average price' i pay for my frame jobs of posters similar size to the gorge 2006, all 100% archival, museum glass, black metal deep frame, spacers, no matting....and i go to a local custom frame shop.
